The Inflatable Delivery Service by Rolly

[raw]
made by Rolly for Ludum Dare 54 (COMPO)

In The Inflatable Delivery Service, you need to organize a set of items on a platform, so that they can be delivered! That's it. Easy right?

Versions

There are two web versions, one of them is the game in its state at the deadline of the Ludum Dare Compo (v1.0). The second one (v1.1) is a fixed version with the following improvements: - Made the game slightly easier by adding new orders every 10 seconds instead of every 9 seconds. - Fixed a small issue with UI text, which could wrap outside of the box.

Controls

  • Left click to grab and release an object
  • Right click while holding an object to send it back to its previous position
  • Mouse wheel while holding an object to rotate it.

Tips

  • You can increase the size of the platform with some credits. Always wait until you can build on the larger side. The game was (kinda) balanced to work better with square-y platforms.
  • Always go as fast as you can. New, more difficult orders come based on time, so the seconds that you can spare at the beginning of the game are precious!

It reminds me of playing Overcook with my friends  Simple but effective 3D. Congratulations for your game

Loved it!
Played a lot of similar games to this one, but this is my favourite so far!
I really liked that you have a tutorial, it helped me to get started much faster!
Controls feel really smooth, and the grid system was responsive!
Good work!

I remember playing one of your other games - The anti-harvest brigade, which I really enjoyed. I can tell that you put a lot of though into the mechanics of how this one works too!! I didn't survive for that long, but I'm almost certain I'm gonna get further if I give it another attempt! Amazing work, and very chill atmosphere!

Simple but really well working gameplay loop. I really like the general vibes the game makes me feel overall. The combination of things in water and happy music makes a relaxing atmosphere while franticly trying to fit right pieces to the area. I think its the consistent theme which made me love this.

The game gets a bit difficult in the later stages, but I think I expanded my raft in the wrong direction because I couldn't find a single way to fit the shark with all of the other objects. I also wish it ramped up a bit faster, it was dragging on for a bit initially. The graphic and audio design is good though, good work!

Game gets difficult after a few orders! Overall an interesting concept.

May need to tweak the timing, seemed like sometimes the items would be dropped and still underwater while the timer on the order started.

What a fun game! Classic example of "easy to learn, hard to master". The music and graphics fit together nicely and the controls feel solid

At first I was like: "wow, it's a nice Jam game", but then I was like: "What?! It's even Compo?". Great job, very pleasant game.

Nice game, looks cute and is simple but addictive. It starts nice and easy and gets hard real fast. I lost a couple of times because I was forced to expand the wrong way and couldn't fit the shark the right way.

This was really fun to play! It was quite hard but I found myself trying more times than i usually do while playing LD-jam games. One thing that i found tricky was that the text in the UI was really small, so the tutorial strained my eyes quite a bit.

Nice and easy to get, but in the end hard to master. Get's difficult the moment you fail one order.
Maybe you could find a way to make errors "heavy". Overall great entry!

Interesting that you managed to add something original to this mechanic that was explored a lot in this jam, which is being able to increase the platform and have a specific order. I pressed all the buttons to find out how to rotate the objects and I couldn't find it. I had to read the page looking for it and then I understood that it is the mouse wheel. I don't think this button is the most suitable, but it was an interesting jam input. Then it gets really difficult
