High concept arcade action BS, inspired by Herzog Zwei and Aerobiz. Really.

198X in a Florida that never was. You are charged with delivering bagels and LOX to the KEYS (because the theme is ~~Locks and Keys~~ Limited Space and you have limited cargo space.)

Use the gamepad or keyboard to fly around. Press T on the keyboard or top face button to transform into a boat. As a plane, you can deliver bagels, this is the only way to score points. As a boat, you can deal with waterborne threats trying to shoot you out of the air.

You have LIMITED fuel, ammo, cargo SPACE and health. Fly over your airport to recover. Deliver bagels to unlock new airports further off the coast that have tougher enemies and more valuable targets.

Press START or ESC to pause the game and open the shop, see your score and status.

Gamepad: Left stick to move, right trigger to fire, left trigger to launch bagels in plane form. Top face button to morph, start to pause and open shop.

Keyboard: WASD/Arrow keys to move -- A and D rotate you as a plane, WASD move you as a boat. Space to fire, shift to launch bagels in plane form. Esc to pause and open the shop.

:first_place: Points are only earned by dropping bagels on targets.

:moneybag: Money is earned by destroying enemies. Early enemies are all sea bound, so turn into a boat and kill them.

:unlock: Drop bagels on targets to unlock new airports on distant islands, find more valuable targets and tougher foes.

Great little game, popped in every now and then to the jam to see how it was going.

Art is great, and captures the aesthetic of a 198x arcade `shooterlike x resource management` game.
I think the balancing is a bit off, but that's to be expected with the nature of LD.

Music would have taken this even further I think.
All in all a great entry, good luck.

Hard to understand, I only got good after my first game over.

Doesn't really fit the them despite what you say :)

Fun little game! Definitely nailed the retro vibe. Ran into a weird bug where the shop menu kept automatically closing during one session.

Solid old arcadey vibes. Transforming into a boat and plane is pretty fun to lose the homing missiles/torpedoes. Fits the theme pretty loosely but I think you already pointed that out in your description haha. Still it's a fun time. I did have a hard time finding some of the delivery locations near the end but it was still fun zooming around all the same.

Good job!

This is so quirky and weird but I love it! It's super chaotic but also very tactical. Balancing all 4 resources while trying to do the objectives is really testing. I loved the aesthetic and overall feel!

This game was a bit difficult to understand at first but I got the general hang of it. The controls are quite challenging! Aiming the donuts at the landing spot requires a lot more skill than I thought, even with the aiming line to help you time it. The enemies are quite crazy to dodge and I found myself getting completely bodied by them. That aside, I could this as a type of minigame in maybe a larger game of sorts. It just needs a lot more polishing and balancing, good work!

Money seems very scarce, as you can spend a lot of your time just delivering bagels in the sky without any enemies bothering you. I tried fighting enemies for a bit to get an upgrade, but I really couldn't make a lot of progress. Maybe there were too many spawned by that point. Regardless, the sound design is pretty good and it's a great entry for the jam. Good job!

The central mechanic of transforming from plane to boat is really cool - the idea there two totally different ways of interacting with the map in front of you is such a neat idea. My only complaint is that I'd like a bit more of that. It would be neat if you had to transform into a boat more often - e.g. to get more bagels instead of spawning with them, or to get pickups/bonuses etc. just because currently it's a little air-focused.

I really enjoyed playing this, thanks for making it :)

This game SLAPS! I should have read the how-to cause I had no idea for a bit that you can transform into a boat haha. but damnnn that boat to plane transformation is *chefs kiss*. For a Compo this is seriously impressive! I don't know how you managed to fit in so many features. You should be super proud!

Wow, at first I thought the game way meh and had no interest, but as time went by and by DAMNNN !

Really nice concept, and amazing execution ! The game feels kinda endless given that I never manage to beat it, I went up to the point you have big planes trying to kill you, it was really fun ! Love the way things control, the upgrade thing is nice and having to swtich out between the two modes is a neat concept, boat for farming money, play to deliver and heal. If you get a call from some organization called "the army" wanting to recruit you as an engineed for a planeboat prototype thing, you'll know where that comes from lmaooo !

I"m impressed you managed to setup a leaderboard thing, congrats on this ! It gives the game another purpose than just completion.

Nice entry, pretty balanced game ! The crude graphics hid one of the best ideas for the jam

The game is really hard to control. It took me like 20 attempts to deliver a single bagel because I need to steer carefully and press the bagel button at a very precise distance from the landing pad. I was also confused for a while about how to turn into a boat since I only read the bold keyboard/money section of the instructions.

I think there is potential for a fun action game though, and you managed to implement a lot of mechanics and systems in the game.
