Introduction :paperclip:

Please Sign Here, is a signing simulator... yes you read right, in this game you sign documents and that's it ! Well the thing is that nowdays paperwork gets more and more complicated, so you will have to abide to fancy signing requirements. Don't get distracted by what is on the papers themselves, no one reads them anyway, right ? Just, sign here ok ?

Game made for the Ludum Dare 54 : Limited Space

Around the Theme :bulb:

After quite a lot of brainstorming and multiple ideas, we talked about how sometimes signing a document can be complicated and that the space that you have to sign it is a Limited Space. We thought it was a weird idea but that it fits the theme pretty well. In the end we are really happy with the result, Please Sign Here is a fun little experimental game that we hope you will like !

Notable inspirations : Papers Please, The Password Game, Wario Ware

Notes to help you play the game :joystick:

Game was design with the use of a computer mouse in mind, some stuff will not work with touch devices (graphical tablets, touch screens, ..)

If you want to read the full page you can click on the magnifying glass on the top left corner of the screen.

You can restart a level quickly by pressing space or right mouse click.

Why not rated in Audio

We are using two free sound effects not made by us (ambiance + paper noise)

Why no Web Player ?

Following Unity's pricing change we decided to try Godot, so we used Godot 4 with C#, and for the moment we cannot export games made with Godot 4 and C# to Web players. Sorry for that !

Really interesting idea, I really enjoyed the very different control scheme compared to other games. I got a bit frustrated when I just barely made an intersection when coming out of a portal, I thought that was a little bit too harsh but overall really fun game. I also wish for there to be a little theme or music, it feels really awkward and weird between transitions to just sit there and listen to office ambiance but overall doesn't ruin the experience! good job guys!

Kinda hard to play with a sensitive mouse but it was fairly well made!
Too bad we don't have time to read the jokes on the contracts.

Fun and nice to look at
I played until the portals, because they did not teleport my cursor like I expect they should have, running the Linux build.

Funny overall!

This was really enjoyable! At first I was confused because I was just drawing lines in a box with some conditions, then the dexterity came in. Did have some difficulty with moving through the portals without unintentionally making intersections, though. But otherwise, visually really nice, funny idea, and good time!

Best game I have reviewed thus far!! I was so happy to see the game actually tell me what I was supposed to do and be easy to understand and fun to play! Good work!!!

@matthieu-riboulot Thanks for the nice comment ! You have a button on the upper left of the screen to look at the full page if you want.

@jivvy Oh that's too bad it bugged on linux :( Thanks a lot for your message !

Great job with this one! The graphics and the mood fit very well, and I enjoyed the progression of mechanics, especially the timer. I wish that the portals had a little more wiggle room around them, it felt like I bumped into walls or accidentally backtracked through them pretty often. Overall a really solid entry- I had a lot of fun and played to the end!

I enjoyed how the signatures got more complicated and the notes more silly as the game went on,

I wish I knew that you could restart it with the <SPACE BAR> before I tried this game 1000 times!!!!

Also, my wife is VERY upset with me yelling out "mmwwaaahhhh" over and over again LOLOL!!!

Love that this game has a LUDUM DARE ending too!

@kennyklizzle Oh yes we forgot to tell you that you could use the Spacebar or the right mouse button (or the north button on a controller, because yeah the game can be played with a controller too haha)

Really happy with all your positive messages thanks a lot !

I thought it will be something like "Paper, please", but I'm totally wrong LOL.

The idea is pretty nice, and fits to the theme well, I'd say I'm enjoyable when playing this game. At first few levels, I almost lost my motivation to continue playing, but, the level design did work, and I can see the point in it.

I was stuck at the last several levels for a while as I will need to redraw whole things even if I just "mismove" my mouse a little bit.

The music used also improve the atmosphere, and pretty cool. The aesthetic also fits, and I didn't get the chance to see the words on the contract, that's a shame :x

@utopia Thanks for your message ! You zoom out to read the documents with the magnifying lens on the top left corner (we should have added a message to explain that in game, woops !)

Brilliant game! It surprised me when the signing space suddenly shrunk. I didn't manage to finish (what I assume was) the last level though - I swear I wasn't releasing the mouse button or hitting the wall but it still kept failing me, usually over the top of the M but sometimes on the R or E. But could just be my mouse playing up if no one else had the same issue.

@stormharrier Thanks for the kind comment and for playing our game ! Yes the level you are describing is the last one, maybe it's a bit too hard but it's the last level after all :)

I love this! The idea is so funny! gameplay is nice and smooth. Graphics are lovely and the colors chosen fit perfectly together. Texts are funny, sounddesign (even if opted out) is nice. mastered to sign all the papers! i think this is my favourite entry!

By far the best and most innovative game I've played this jam! The idea is so much fun and fits the theme so well. Even though the game can be frustrating at times I had a bunch of fun and laughed when reading those contracts I was signing.
Sadly couldn't finish the last level, because my hand cramped too much xD

Surprisingly fun up until a point (the last 2 levels) but having experienced excruciating signings of lengthy documents first hand I choose to interpret the frustration as the intended experience. Tried to play on a tablet but sadly it didn't like the portals. Got a good laugh out of the contracts though. Nice game!

@chitoyuu Thank you for the tablet feedback! Portals are using the cursor position and may be not working well with touch devices as you experimented

@markadia To clarify I meant a graphical tablet, but yes I agree the situation would be similar with touch screens as well. Maybe you can note in the descriptions that it's meant to be played specifically with a mouse and not other input devices.

I LOVE THIS! Having so much fun playing this. I love the interpretation of the theme. The graphic and sound fit nicely. I appreciate the way you gradually add rules. It is hilarious when the stages come up with nothing to do with sign but more like a maze.

Cool drawing game. I could appreciate the humour once I noticed I can inspect the forms better (maybe the hand made me believe there is nothing on the left side of the screen). I feel the levels could be a bit more lenient with the precision. One of the later levels which contains a lot portals, precise movement and was timed made me quit. There was just too many factors there, for me at least. Perhaps, if there was no timer or if the path was wider it could have been doable.

Great job overall!

- Cool game, I loved the humorous backstory
- The forms where flew over too quickly, I think it would be good if the camera slowly went over the form, and the player could click on the screen to speed it up/ skip it. With the magnifying lens it was hard to read some text, maybe it could allow to move the camera horizontally, but keep the same zoom level.
- I feel like the portals could stop the mouse from moving after teleporting for a little while (0.2s), I often went too far because the portal hitbox was so small, you could also extend the portal hitbox.
- I also got this and I'm not sure where I went wrong with this one, seemed somewhat random ![Zrzut ekranu 2023-10-07 132825.png](///raw/9a8/25/z/5ff22.png)

Got a good laugh out of these ones. The escalation of the mechanics reminds me of Papers please. When I started the game I didn't think the game would be able to get such milage from the signing mechanic.

I really liked how the forms told the story. And the endless amount of butt jokes.

The graphics and sound are minimal but are very much on point.

Overall an excellent entry. Definitely deserves a lot more ratings.
