Ben The Binder by KewDev
The date is 1998, You got called in one night at 3AM because of server issues.
You are stuck in a stuffy dark server room passing files between computers using a floppy disk that has a limited amount of space on it.
The new operating system is jankier than expected… Complete your tasks in time and explore all four possible endings.

Made by Sphess and KeWin with love and care.

@horger Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!
@kewinfanbruh Thank you!
@csubazurmedve It's on its way! :praisethelord:
Might have been nice to add a tooltip or hightlight around interactables - I can see some people not familiar with floppy discs not realize where to 'use' it 😂
Hail Clippy
After some polishing, this could be an enjoyable game. I hope you continue the development of the project!
@janinna21 Thanks! The cat appreciates your feedback as well!
@nirlandec Thanks for playing! We're glad the atmosphere worked so well!
@daniilprasolov Thank you!
@delauraen Thank you! We actually never even though of that haha. Might add that in a post-jam version!
@ethan-g Thanks for the feedback! We're going to take this into account in the post-jam version!
@uncleb Thank you so much for all your hard work! HAIL CLIPPY!
@xefande Sorry to hear you ran into so many issues! There is a post-jam version coming which addresses the aforementioned issues to hopefully bring the game into a state that is more to your liking! Thank you for the extensive feedback!
@oznarox Thanks for playing and the feedback! Controls are definitely a bit finnicky, will look into it in the post-jam version!
Spolier alert:
I hoped for a little more in the gameplay loop - maybe a little detective work among the servers, maybe copying some diagnostic tools and using them, instead of plain copying. I couldn't assign full score on the rest.
Still probably the best entry I had played so far.
Love the take on the theme too! I had multiple times I hit max space on that stupid floppy disk :rofl:
I will say, it got a bit grindy for me near the middle.... but I was so in it, I felt compelled to keep going and finish. I loved the premise and setting. I think at the start, I had expected there to be more messing with files on other servers etc. I realize that's probably way out of the scope of the jam... and so for how complete this is, it's just awesome.
Part of me wants to replay and deliberately do badly. I was so on top of getting rid of viruses... I'm curious what happens. There was such nice build up and anticipation with the clippy thing.. I love it, but when I did well, it didn't have much of a pay off. Just the audio alone made me jump a couple times. But I thought maybe there would be more of a tease or something happening.
The biggest thing I would tweak is the camera bob. I actually felt motion sick and have a headache now. :grimacing: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I think it's the back and forth rotation on Z... seeing your horizon line bob like that will make anyone motion sick over time. I like the bob... but maybe get rid of that rotation? Especially with how much walking you do.
This is such a killer entry. Nice work!!
@scrapmetal Oof! Sorry for the headache mate! That was definitely not our intention. Thanks for the extensive feedback though! We're on our way to make a separate post-jam version and in that I have decreased the head-bobbing to the absolute bare minimum since so many people said the bobbing was a bit much. Sorry about it, but we're glad that other than that you had a good time!
@minjutin Thanks for playing! We wanted to make sure the player will be discouraged as much as possible from saying no to ben.
@iron-head We're sorry to hear that you didn't have an enjoyable experience. The YES / NO issue is a known bug that has been fixed in the post-jam version, but since we can't modify the jam version it just stood its place in the game.
I've bookmarked it for later in case I'll give it another try and break something (thought I'm not sure what I could do except delete files randomly or don't run virus scanner).
