Bullet Spell by Glove
Our intrepid adventurer attempts to win big at the regional wizards' tourney! Joined together are magi from all walks of life: from eccentric Witch Doctors to common Wizards, Alchemists to Psychics, even rumors of the rare Necromancer. All is great but for one minor detail: Our adventurer is not a wizard. Dodge through volleys of magical bullet hell-itry in the game Bullet Spell! Be careful not to let enemies build up, you only have a LIMITED SPACE after all.
Controls:
'WASD' or Arrow Keys --> Movement
Space or Left Shift or Right Click --> Dodge Roll
Left Click or 'C' or 'J' or 'E' --> Attack (Left Click recommended, aiming)
Known Bugs/Unideals:
-The melee hitbox is inaccurate to the animation, instead it reaches much further past but does not cover the player herself.
-The end screen difficulty selector hitboxes are very inaccurate due to the lens warp effect (hitboxes are to the top left of the actual arrow graphics)
-The Necromancer is so magical that their initial projectile doesn't have a hitbox (though that may be a boon for many)
-Movement is floaty which is not ideal for what intends to be a precision game.

-Movement is slightly sluggish (though it wasn't that bad once I got the hang of it). Imo, it takes too long for my character to get up to full speed & pivot/change direction. I wonder if it's that thing Unity does in the Input Manager where digital inputs have a ramp-up & ramp-down time by default. Might be worth looking into.
-The hitbox when the player attacks seems to be bigger mechanically than it is visually. Not a huge deal, but I was getting way closer to enemies than I needed to until I realized it.
Really solid overall! I also love the soft elevator-style music in the background. Gives the game a cool chill retro vibe.
Obviously just the drawings, graphics, and rendering onto a curved surface just oozes with "Okay that's cool"
Add to it all the different enemies with awesome art, and different projectiles patterns. Definitely had a fun time with this one.
I noticed that the difficulty selection only works when clicking the leftmost arrow in the "replay-screen", and only on the leftmost part. Maybe some other UI element is overlaying and blocking the mouse click for the rest part?
@kory @candlesan I glad y'all enjoyed the varied attacks! I made special effort to have variety in enemies (a past jam I did had a whole roguelike dungeon-crawler system set up, but only one enemy which admittedly was not ideal).
@airwaffle Great point, I added a blip about known errors. The reason why the hitbox does not line up is due to the way Unity handles button inputs (tying them to a graphic) not accounting for the lens warp post processing effect.
@lakea @krynxx In some regards I wish I made the game easier so it was more accessible to more people, but I'm glad y'all had fun regardless :)
@dovodx Admittedly I did intend for the sluggish movement because I thought it would look nice, but I should have remembered function over fancy (or any other equivalent idiom). Also the melee hitbox is not ideal I agree and now has a place in the known bugs category, thanks for the keen eye! Less important note, thank you for my first ever compliment in regards to music I've created! I have no idea anything music theory nor even what I am doing, but it seemed to work out :D
@a327ex Fair criticism about the audio, to be truthful I just kind of banked on people lowering their volume of their device as a sort of built in audio slider, but I really should have just added something to a title screen.
Very fun game! I love the interpretation of the theme as a fast-paced bullet hell in a confined space. Felt extremely good to play, the sound effects had oomph, the visual design made it easy to keep track of bullets and the hitboxes felt fair. Really the type of game that draws you in to try one more time, has a nice arcade quality to it. Great job, had an awesome time with this!

This was pretty fun! I really liked the graphics & SFX, gave it a great arcade vibe! The game also felt pretty good to play - it was fun trying to approach the enemies without getting hurt. Some enemies felt much stronger than others, however - I was almost never hit by the cross-shaped attack, but the wizards pretty much always gave me trouble. Also, there was a bug where I couldn't change the starting difficulty from the retry screen, and had to refresh the game each time in order to begin on hard. Other than that, great entry!

The attack feels a bit weird as I can't seem to be able to hit while on the move, but that's the only nitpick I have for this game.
