Rabbit Reporter by LucaVazz
Inside scoop - local game dev team "finishes" Visual Novel game in 72hrs!
They said it could not be done! A Visual Novel game with branching dialogue timelines and hand painted assets, all in one jam game?
Follow Ricky Reporter Rabbit on his journalistic adventures to find out the local scoop!

And much more to discover yourself!
:warning: Although the in-game hint tells you otherwise, unfortunately we ran out of time to add more stories, so every rabbit only has one story to tell in the jam version. Because of this, there also is no win or lose state in the jam version.
Made with Godot 4 using the Dialogic Add-On and lots of acrylic paint.

It was kinda complicated to navigate in all different UIs
The idea and the visuals outweight everything tho :D
@pichiiparu In fact _all_ assets were hand painted in acrylic paint and then scanned for the game - you can see some more details in a [Behind the scenes](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/rabbit-reporter/rabbit-reporter-behind-the-scenes) we posted the other day :)
Love the custom cursor, though it might be bit too big to be comfortable enough but is SUPER cute and I still enjoyed using it ^^ Loved the interactive map too, it feels satisfying to use. The mechanic of creating the newspaper was super fun as well and the dialogues are wacky in a good way! :D
I missed some kind of audio, you probably didn't have enough time to add it, but maybe just using some copyright-free music (like from youtube audio library, etc) and still opting out of audio category since it's not original, would be a good temporary solution, and then you can always switch it to the original music after the jam :)
I just put on some music on youtube while playing so it's not silent %)
The options being like "find out more" and "not care" are a bit obvious and ofc I am going to choose to talk and not just go away, so it kinda defeats the purpose of the options being there.
Nitpicks/bugs?
-Dialogues activate by pressing space even when I am not close enough and the figure is not highlighted by yellow. That's not a huge problem, just noticed after pressing space just for the fun of it xD Then I tested it a bit more and it seems this only works after I already talked to said NPC once.
-I went under the sprites sometimes:
-I love how grandma (looking young btw, let me know her beauty routine!) was bragging about her carrots while surrounded by tomatoes XD
-Not sure if that's on purpose so we don't fat-finger the choice, but on choice boxes your custom cursor turns into a regular one.
-I reckon that's because of a time crunch, but just noting some characters have "names" like "carrot_dress" :)
My newspaper ^^

I love the artstyle choice. when I saw it I instantly wanted to check the game! It's very well done and it really helps it stand out!
I like the use of the theme, it's pretty creative! there's a good variety in what you can put in the news paper as far as subjects and I like that
The writing is really good, it got a few chuckles out of me, I enjoyed going around interviewing all characters and everything they had to say!
I would love to see this expanded with more stories to report on and and different plotlines and such
I see a lot of potential here!
