Paperwork speed run by lalordmikey

[raw]
made by lalordmikey for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

This is a fast paced 2d movement momentum based platformer. Your only goal is to get to the top of a sky scraper to eat tacos for lunch without being crushed to death by a mountain of paperwork. When first getting into the game use arrow keys to move up and down the menu and enter to select what you want. f11 toggles full screen, escape sends you to the main menu and R restarts the current level. You can also turn sound effects on/off in the main menue (they are funny but can get annoying with time).

If you want to see your level times you can go into the office (accessed from the main menu) this is also where you can select what level you want to play (as long as you have already completed the level). The stars you can get are out of five where getting 5 stars on a level is means you did that level essentially perfectly. Additionally in the office is where you can see what collectables you have acquired (there are 5). Let me know in the comments if the levels were too hard and your fastest times/amount of stars you were able to get in each level. Other than that I hope you enjoy the game and leave your other thoughts below for me to read. :)

The idea of taking stuff to resist the pressure of work is very funny! Otherwise it's a nice platform game :)

Such a relatable story you have here. Now I want tacos and red pills.

No but joking aside, as a hardcore platformer game I really like how you put "ghost workers" in the tutorial level, made it really easy to get a grasp of the game. I also enjoyed the playful graphics

@minjutin glad it helped it took a while to get working at least it was worth it. Also were you able to finish the game? I feel like I might have made the levels too difficult.

I finished the first 3 levels and almost got to the end of the fourth one. I actually liked how challenging it was, the game didn't feel impossible in any point. Also, the player movement felt really nice. I would've definitely finished it if I had more time to use

Loved the death screens haha. I got to level 3! If I had more time to play, I would have continued. Really cool game!

I love to slide, and when I get the timing just right between slides, that's such a nice feeling. Also, the game over screens make each death delightful.

A nice game, I like the graphics and the theme. For a non-platform-gamer like me it was pretty hard, did not finish it.

@diadem-games if I had more time I would have made the difficulty curve less steep. What level did you end up getting to?

I got to level 3 because GDAM this game is hard! Fair but hard!

I am terrible at these type of games and did not get that far - but I love the vibe and energy. The controls were pretty good, and the sliding was particularly rewarding.
Nicely done~!

Really fun platforming game! I love the art/sprite work, the pixel art works really well for the concept and there's a lot of little funny pickups that are great. Sound design was really funny, liked the vine boom sound effect. The sliding movement tech was a lot of fun to master, great jam game!

That was a pretty cool game. I really enjoyed the high speed gameplay though it was very difficult for me. Good job!

There was a lot of effort put into this, and it shows! The movement was quick and fun, but definitely hard to master. Music and sound effects were great, and I also liked the environments and character animations. The only thing I didn't like was that the level design (while quite fun and creative) was very punishing, and a single mistake, even something as small as crashing into a wall basically meant you had to restart the whole level. Level 2 really had me stumped. Maybe I just need to git good though. :)
Great job!

Very fun game, solid entry. The game is challenging, but the controls are very responsive.

I think a system with checkpoints would be useful, perhaps with an option to enable it. Also, the timing to obtain the wings is a bit tight for my taste
