Intro

You are woken up from the cryochamber by the alarm system. The navigator screen is beaming red. "Off course: FATAL". This is impossible, all the ship's procedures have been proven correct! A quick scan reveals a nearby solar system. Your must go there and find a way to get back on track!

Tips:

  • To construct a facility you need to have materials on the same planet. Move them from the ship by clicking them.
  • Head to the 8 planet and set up shop there first.
  • Quarry, Chemical Plant and Power Plant is a good combo to start.

Long Tutorial:

To resume your journey, you will need 100 fuel for the fusion drive and 100 synthetic food.

Planets:

There are 7 planets. Each planet has 2 to 8 slots (the white squares).

Ship:

Your majestic fusion drive ship is displayed at the bottom The ship has 5 slots that contain a solar field, 20 fusion fuel, 20 food and 20 materials. The ship starts by orbiting a planet. You can plan to move to other planets by clicking on highlighted ones. The ship will move at the end of the turn and consume 1 fusion fuel. The ship can reach all it's inventory slot and the orbited planet slots.

Construction:

You can construct facilities on empty slots. The material needed for the construction are taken from the same planet, so you need to move them from your ship. You can also move the materials back. To construct a facility, click on an empty spot that you can reach and select it from the menu.

Ending the turn:

You need to eat at the end of the turn by consuming 1 food from the ship. If there is no food you die. At the end of the turn, all facilities produce their output if they have space by consuming what they require. For example: a Chemical Plant will generate 4 fuel if there is an empty slot and there is a slot with at least 2 materials in the same planet.

Your turn!

Find the production cycles and beat the game!

This is an interesting idea. My main gripe with the game is that I found the tutorial and graphics very confusing at first. So much so that I spent around 10 minutes just figuring out what everything meant despite reading the tutorial several times. I think this game would heavily benefit from being made a bit simpler or having the information be presented to the player at a slower pace. This was an entry to a game jam though, so I understand why it doesn't have these features!

I do like the idea of micromanaging resources between planets. I think this could be further expanded by having some sort of active threat you're constantly battling instead of the distant threat of running out of resources. The limited inventory could potentially play into that as you may need to carry certain resources or items to keep something at bay. Good work! :)

I agree with the tutorial needing a bit of work, but once I understood the mechanics it was an interesting game, hard but not too hard.

Are structures supposed to always say "Will produce in 0 turns"? I'm a bit confused...

Amazing game, I had some problems with understanding how to build at the start of the game, and the "end turn" button doesn't look like a button at all. But eventually I understood the buildings, and I had a lot of fun trying to optimize Fusion fuel production vs moving around collecting other resources.
Graphics is really cute, I like the hand-drawn style, although I would expect some simple animations (bounces and tweens), the game looks very static.
I am very happy that I managed to win the game, it took me like 15 minutes of playing, congrats on making such fun game for the 48h.

I always enjoy grid based resource production games, but I think this one can be "solved" really pretty easily if you just have the right starting setup. You have enough materials to build two chemical plants and four miners at the 8 planet with enough material left over to kickstart the process, and that solves your material issues for the rest of the game. After that setup all you need is a farm somewhere to drop off materials every now and then, and an atmosphere harvester to drop off energy at in the same way. I actually think that making the planets larger would have made the game a bit more complex, as doing anything fancy like producing fuel, burning it for energy, and using that to make fusion fuel can only be done on the 8 planet without hand feeding. Overall I did have fun theory-crafting a build before placing anything down, and the animations of things moving around was a nice touch. Great Job!
