Cave Crawl by jellycopter

[raw]
made by jellycopter for Ludum Dare 54 (COMPO)

Crawl to the secret graffiti cave!

Gather 5 paint cans to open the door.

Click and drag hands and feet to move. Slippery surfaces and stalactites can't be grabbed. Lava is bad.

Press "R" to return to your last flag.

Escape to Quit.

--Edit : Oct 4 For better playability I've updated some of the graphics layers and collisions. The recommended version to play this game is CaveCrawl1.1.exe! It is available as a web playable game on itch.io, however there are some GMS2 related bugs with textures sometimes! Feel free to play CaveCrawl.exe for the authentic COMPO version.

Have Fun!cavecrawlgif.gif

Reminds me a lot of the QWOP climb game and ragdoll kung fu! well done!

The art and subtle animations on the player are fantastic and feel great to play around with, super fun! Slight pain point was that I kept clicking around to find my joints, but perhaps that will become easier with time.

"QWOP" meets "Frog Climbers" :)
Sometimes it's hard to find where the limbs are, and it's hard to move them

I struggled to find my feet and hands as my body became a jumble of limbs several times, but it's funny!

I like the idea, but I unfortunately kept clipping a limb or torso into one of the walls during the first crawl section and wasn't able to progress :(. Working with what I managed to do, the mood is set very nicely with the aggressive breathing, and the main player just looks so jolly with it's human face plaster upon it. I enjoyed your work and wish I could have seen more. Best of luck!

Haha this reminds me of QWOP so much!
Very fun, but had a hard time selecting some limbs.
Maybe a keyboard shortcut would have worked.
Nice one!

Nice and silly QWOP-ish game! Movement feels nice but sometimes the hands/feet get stuck and become hard to click

Oh, very interesting controls, there is a little inconvenience in this, but in general, if you get used to the behavior of the body, you can go through the levels quite quickly.

I was never able to climb the left wall, but the character and idea are simply charming!
I'd like some music to keep the atmosphere going

Really fun idea and has a great unique look. But I couldn't get the hang of it - got stuck getting through the small tunnel at the start.

Very funny game! Love the face and how silly the movement through the cave can get. I think the ambience also really captures that cave exploration feeling. Great job!

As someone who loves climbing in real life, I was instantly interested in this game. It was super fun, but one thing that could have been improved is the visibility of clickable body elements and feedback to confirm if they actually sticked. I spent a lot of time trying to click on those legs :D Good job and congrats!

Pretty fun game with unique graphics. interesting concept, and it portrays the theme well.

Interesting take on the theme, it definitely felt like "limited space" when I had the poor guy crunched into a tunnel with his arms and legs all facing the wrong ways  As some people have already mentioned I did have some times where hands/feet would get stuck and be hard to find/click on.

Great entry, a lot of fun and very "QWOP" which I enjoyed.
Lots of fun to play, a bit of music would have added to the atmosphere but I was invested either way as I enjoy these ragdoll-like games.

funny concept! i had a really hard time playing - it seemed like the hitboxes for grabbing the hands/feet was very small and i often had trouble getting a hold of them.

Pretty interesting game. Would be super funny if the face changed when squeezing through small gaps :D Also I think I somehow managed to turn the caver inside out:

It's awesome and hilarious how glitchy and janky this is to control. I got a little (or a lot) stuck a couple minutes in:

This man has a bad case of boneitis! Sadly, the textures started to get corrupted halfway through and it became unplayable a bit after that. Still, the controls are pretty sensible (even if ridiculous by design) once you get used to them. Well done!
