Lucky Lefty Lugs Luggage by TheBookSnail

[raw]
made by TheBookSnail for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

Lucky Lefty is ready for a lovely, leisurely, and luxurious vacation. Unluckly, Lucky Lefty needs to lug luggage and they have limited space with little leeway. Rude Righty has laudably offered to assist but they seem to be lofting ALL the luggage in a lackadaisical order! I'm sure it's just a little logistical lapse on their part.

Get a high score by collecting all the items on the packing list for each level. Missed items on the packing list will spawn mites that will steal your luggage!

Controls: Spin shell with WASD, or Arrow keys, Pressing and dragging around the shell.

Oh wow, it was so satisfying to spin very fast and still capture required objects :D
I would've loved to play it longer if you would add more levels

And maybe some more object<>object interactions to add more complexity to later levels

If you spin the shell too much it will hypnotise you 0_0

Interesting premise, I really struggled with the spinning and thought it was a little too much of a windup. But overall, it is a nice and sharp game!

I also really appreciate the mobile aspect ratio. Would be interesting to know what engine it was made on.

Very impressive that you used spiral shape to express the theme!

A surreal concept, that's for sure. Given some time, you could increase the precision, control, and I imagine you have a very unique game here. And thanks for the snail fact :)

I used tactics of constant spinning and at the end of level 4 framerate dropped considerably :)
Also, I felt a little dizzy
Still, very unique idea and concept, it was fun

This game was hard. I failed to find the best tactic to keep the stuff I needed in my shell and not falling out. It also wasn't clear what exactly the win and loose conditions are. Yet, it was good fun and I was trippin balls on the hypnotizing shell.

I liked the simplicity yet original experience. I like that when spinning, you have to manage slowing down else you launch out all of your loot! Would have benefited having a progress tracker on what you have collected so far, I found it hard to track my actual progress. Satisfying and hypnotising spinny aesthetic! Thanks snailsnail games!

The idea is really fun, but I am pretty bad at the game.

I got 102 when trying, and 118 when just holding down left the entire game.
Interesting concept, it took me a few moments to figure out what I was doing, and how to catch things on the left of the screen.

Interesting concept to be sure - I played twice and got a high score of 130. It's very hard to know what the best strategy is - for example, if you spin constantly you can't get the big boxes in Level 4 that are worth the most points. Also, because of the red things it kind of seems to be best to grab as many items as possible so that if you catch a red thing, it'll more likely steal one of the items that isn't worth points. Would be interesting to see what the highest possible score is!
