Bone Box Brawl by LucasZoom

[raw]
made by LucasZoom for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

This is my first game made in anything but scratch.

Basically, you move with WASD and can move your box by holding space.

I made this in around 48 hours for Ludum Dare 54 with the theme Limited Space.

I plan on making updates to this after the jam to make it better and more fun.

Hope you enjoy this!

Pretty fun game. The highest score I got was 671. I was a bit confused about what to do in the game though--once there were two skeletons, I figured out the game was just about dodging, but without a description, I didn't learn that until about 20-30 seconds into the game. I also couldn't figure out what space did. I tried pressing it, but nothing happened.

A nice little game! I only got to 479, but I had a good time even though it was hard. A good game for your first one outside of Scratch!

Tiny game, the controller is funny. Game loop is kind simple, numerical design is very basic

A first jam and finish a game is a supreme accomplishment ,job well done.
You can be proud of that .

Great to see that you made the step from Scratch to an engine like Unity! The game is somewhat simple, but it's a nice idea. I like that you gradually increase the difficulty, and that you came up with a teleporting skeleton. A bit more feedback when you get hit would be nice, and don't be shy to make things bigger. Right now there's a lot of small stuff happening on a big screen. Great for a first Unity game though!

I enjoyed the idea of being constrained to a small space while dodging. I think you could definitely expand upon this idea by changing skeleton patterns, box shape and size, etc! I will say that being able to move the box made the game much easier, to the point where I was able to outrun the skeletons almost indefinitely, haha. Nice work!

Nice work, perhaps some mobs that force you to move the cage early in the game would highlight that mechanic.

Fun game, a little hard to figure out the spacebar mechanic and not that useful. Great potential, good job!

The idea of making the boundary flexible is so cool, which totally varied the experience of original Bullet Hell games! It's intriguing to play it, even for me, because we have rather long lives even if I constantly get hit

cute little game, I feel it fits the limited space theme, and moving the bone box is really sick

Well done for 48 hrs! Nice simple game that gets the idea across well. Had a little trouble making the box move as I wanted, and an indicator for when you are being hit would be nice, but the game scales well for the elements used.

I really enjoyed the straightforward design of the scoring system and the ever-increasing intensity. As others have said, some feedback on taking damage and moving the box would go a long way for your presentation and player satisfaction. Regardless, great work for your first jam game and way to nail the theme!
