Cosmic Frontiers by Anshul K

[raw]
made by Anshul K for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

You are stranded in space, with limited space on your little ship. Defend your ship and your kind on it from alien invaders that attack your ship, sort of like a bullet hell game.

I didn't understand the graphic of a ship at the bottom. The character is apparently above her, but when I thought he was going to fall, no, the character can walk sideways in space. The graph is also very simple. Some enemies appear in the middle of the screen very close. Apart from these details, I played for a while and scored some points. I recognize the effort behind each entry, so we are here evaluating and being evaluated just to improve even more. I think the graphics and sounds lacked a little more polish. The mechanics are acceptable. I didn't see where the vastness of space would fit into the theme. The game's cover also doesn't really match the game, because it suggests that you will control that ship on the cover...

Scored 126 when finished the game.

The mechanics looked simple at first, but I had some good times when playing it. It feels good when got firepower upgrade and sweep the enemies double fast, and intercept enemy projectile is an interesting part too.

I would suggest changing shooting from clicking to holding.

@tmpxyz @lincolnsalles Thank you for your feedback!
@lincolnsalles I originally thought of the idea as our character being stuck on this ship in space. As in that the character is stuck on this limited space on the ship (he seems to be not stuck since you can just move rightwards, I did fix that in the post-jam version). I'll sure try to improve my game.

Nice little game, I like that there's multiple types of enemy, also upgrade and health boost, it's simple but works and without bugs, good job !

Are the graphics of the enemy ships your own work? The level of detail is astounding! Even in full-screen mode, I can't fully discern all the intricate details – it's spectacular! If I had to point out some areas for improvement, I would suggest adding some background music, even if it's from third-party sources. Additionally, there seems to be an inconsistency in the art style; the protagonist appears more cartoonish, while the enemies look more realistic. Despite these minor issues, I must congratulate you on the game! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Great job!

Very interesting game. It reminds me of that Battlefield clip. The pilot of the plane jumps out of the plane and shoots down the enemy plane with a bazooka. overall nice job!

Oh no, the Estonia flag ran out of blue :(

Trying to find the spot right under an enemy ship is a bit finicky, but on a retry it feels good to be ahead of the spawnwave when I started getting it right.

I didn't really understand how the weapon upgrades worked, they just randomly happened? I would like to see some feedback about it on screen.
