Pocket Universe Snake by TheLastSlowpoke
Link with the game at the bottom. I had trouble getting it to work on this site, I'm sorry!
My first game jam!
So excited to share with you what I've been working on instead of sleeping enough. This is probably the last time I'm using Unity btw. I've reckoned that using a familiar engine was better suited for this new chaotic experience than learning a new one. I think I was right, because I don't have time to make audio ^^ Oops...
I hope you have fun! Can't wait to play your game!

I really like how the play style adapts to the longer snake, having to wrap around the world multiple times instead of turning - It's a real challenge.
One feedback would be, controller support! Using analog controls for this would be top notch
Have you considered using procedural generators for the music, like Maestro Robo?
Congrats on your first game jam entry!!! Nice job on giving us a high score to beat too (I did beat it, and got 63 points). I do wish I could have easily seen my score while the game was running (maybe it was there, but I didn't see it).

My friend just got to a whooping 84 (!) and made a photo of what life feels like when snacke.

It's so cool to see others come up with strategies I didn't think of.
By the way, this universe is not a sphere, the projection of it definitely looks like it, because the curvature is spherical. It's half a sphere connected to itself on the edges. And you can see the whole universe at once in any given moment (though the edges are just a little bit obstructed to look better).
There is no score during gameplay, because I realized it was distracting. If you need it super badly though, it should be in the browser developer console ^^ I'm glad you liked the game!
I would probably add it as an option if I were to make a release with fully explored concept.
That said, I think the hitboxes could be a tiiiny bit smaller, sometimes it felt that I ate myself even though I thought I would make it. But that's no biggie, very cool entry!
I love the intro animation, where the grey button turns to reveal the game area.
Maybe it would have been easier to understand what happens if the world was displayed as a real sphere, with some dezoom to show it entirely.
It reminds me of this game : https://sokyokuban.com/ . It's a non-euclidean soko-ban.
Thanks for your comment! I'm not sure if I understand your suggestion correctly, but I think I did exactly that! Maybe it's easier to see that on my half-way-there prototype at https://thelastslowpoke.itch.io/ld54-36h-prototype (password: snake) if you want to check it out.
Aside from adding a few sounds, this game is perfect. Great work!
Nice.
So now 75% of Bimbi's Cosmo Party's crew already played my game xD Y'all tireless. I played a lot of games myself and although it's absolutely fantastic to see what others came up with, if I were to play them back to back all day every day, I would definitely go insane. By the way, I loved your game, it's one of the most memorable ones ^^ I think it's one last game today.
Dwarf Looter is already booted and I love the music coming from that tab @khelian! @matthieu-riboulot You either played my game simultaneously or someone is using two accounts to rate
re precisely I think. And maybe the environment is a bit too dark (even if you put a light around the fruit). A bit more of textures on the ground would give more clarity. Otherwise didn't find any bugs. Good job.
I did see your game before when our team was still together physically, but I wasn't the one playing then. Saw it pop up on the smart list again so decided to give it a try myself because I knew it would be fun :D sometimes rating games can feel like a chore but then you come across a gem and it makes it all worth it lol
Glad you liked our game!
I thought that it will be easy to get high score but I found that it is very challenging to react on smth looking like a ball. Distance was very strange and it was really hard to dodge my own tail.
Nice addition to the classical snake experience. Absolutely enjoyed it (except that dizzy feeling).
Got to 43 points. Well done. Lack of sound didn't affect my at all.
Well executed, the space is misleadingly small. I can't quite put words to it, but it doesn't feel like it's really a sphere, but instead a fish eye lens effect? I felt like I was reaching the same spot really quickly relative to what the "sphere" looks like
