Monster Standoff by ShellfishGames

Monster Standoff... more like Monster Jumpoff, ha. Yeah. Just be aware I made this in 4 hours. Quite minimalistic, but the ruleset is a little meh - the game will do its best to explain everything to you.

Basically there are three players (two AI players plus you). Each round, one randomly selected player is the monster, but nobody knows who as they all look identical. This is the ruleset:

-two non-monster players may stand on the same platform
-when the monster plus another player are on the same platform, the platform vanishes
-each player has a different color
-players can throw balls of their color
-if these balls hit a platform, that platform takes the respective color for 3 seconds, during that time other players will fall through it
-you can't color a platform you're currently standing on
-every 20 seconds one random platform vanishes - but not the one the monster is standing on
-when a player dies, it is revealed whether he was the monster or not
-this might all seem a little arbitrary and chaotic. Because it is!

Playable on Windows only. Sorry for the game being so small and all, it took me till Sunday evening to finally have a decent idea, even though the execution certainly isn't so great, theme-wise - it all made a lot more sense in my head. :)
I'm still somewhat proud of creating a complete platforming AI that works reasonably well within about an hour, so I've got that going for me which is nice.

Edit: Added Youtube link below for those unable to play it. Note however that it incorporates a slightly improved AI for the two bot players, so the game is a little easier.

For a 4 hour game this is really cool! It's a very simple principle but it was quite fun for at least 20 rounds. Very neat!

Really cool gameplay! It took a second to understand it completely, but i think it has potential. Respect for doing it in 4 hours and also respect for the music :)

Wow that's fun! Sort of reminded me of TowerFall, at least in how competitive it is (or would be, with multiplayer). On that subject, it'd be awesome if you did a post-compo version with multiplayer!

Slashee, I already got one with local multiplayer using keyboard + gamepad. Online multiplayer is rather tough with Dark Basic, the language I used for this. But yeah, I'll make sure to support multiple gamepads (as of now it's just one) and upload it eventually.
Thanks for your feedback. :)

Impressed for 4 hours of work - I would love to see what you could have done with 24!
