Modular Mechanism by watson

[raw]
made by watson for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

You are a modular robot. Scavenge parts from enemy robots and use them to make yourself stronger to defeat the enemy. But beware, you only have limited space for parts. When editing your robot, use left click to pick up and place parts, and use right click to get the part description. When fighting, use WASD to move, and left click to shoot. My first full Godot game, I learned a lot making this! Edit: Sorry embed doesn't work on Ludum Dare, play on itch.io!

I really liked the idea and wanted to play it more. The fact that you run out of shots so quickly while more and more shot spamming bots show up is a tad frustrating

Fun Game, feels like it needs a little bit of balancing (Energy reloaded too slow & enemy drops were really rare). Quick fun and cute artwork!

Congratulations on making your first godot game! Great use of the theme. Found it tough to play for very long because energy regeneration was so limited, after missing a couple of shots all I got to do was dodge and wait for a very long time. Still a neat idea, good work.

Hey, Daniel here from the discord \o I love the concept, I wish it was a bit better balanced. I feel if the player bullets flew a little faster, and didn't take as much energy to fire it would already be much better. I found it so hard, soon enough the screen would be full of bullets flying and I wouldn't be able to shoot one of my own for what felt like 15~20 seconds each time.

Great concept and loved the self made music/sounds! Found myself being overwhelmed quickly due to the slow rate of recharge for the cannon.

Cool concept for the theme. As already mentioned a little balancing would be nice as I can get a few enemies in while being really careful with my shots before I run out of energy. The controls for the game are responsive and I liked the graphics as well. Overall nice work!

I really liked the MS Paint aesthetic and the parts-management mechanic was interesting.

It's quite fitting with the theme indeed. However, the energy recovery is too slow, and I find myself constantly running in circles to avoid more and more bullets. It would be better if the accessories could rotate as well.

Interesting idea, good take on the theme. Love the sound. The game seems unbalanced though, as I get hordes of enemies shooting at me without being able to pick up enough pieces to fight them.

There's a lot of cool stuff going on here! I really like your take on the theme. It's quite an ambitious game and I'm impressed with everything you got together. As others have mentioned, I would have enjoyed playing a version with a bit more energy regeneration, but perhaps that's down to me not being skilled enough

I love the art and the sound. The main melody was catchy!

Ahh, I wish the shots wouldn't wistle as much. I couldn't keep playing. On the other hand, you're the best for the ukulele. Regarding the gameplay, I encountered the same problem twice: I didn't have enough energy. I tried different things, but in the end I had to run away from ear-ripping whistles(

Hey, congrats on your first Godot game!!

The game is so much fun, I absolutely loved the music and sound effects, and the theme is very well used

If I would give one criticism, it would be the interface, as a non-number-guy, my brain just ignores the numbers and I never know if I'm low on health or energy, it would be nice to have more of a visual interface
