The mechanics are very simple top trumps style but you've added in an element of choice and tactics (by giving the player a range of cards to select from, and by creating attack\/defence rounds). Others have found the balancing off, I think because it is random cards (rather than deck building) that the difficulty will always vary. It was quite easy for me.
