Under Trykk by Fredspipa

[raw]
made by Fredspipa for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

Traverse the depths in a submarine. Keep it together.

A short horror game made over the weekend with Godot. I thought "where are you most limited on space?" and I figured a submarine in a narrow underwater cave would fit the bill.

WASD to move LMB/RMB to interact with submarine controls.

Embedded HTML did not work with Godot, there's some CORS flags that needs to be set on the webserver. If you want to play it in the browser, use the gotm.io link below.

The GOTM player works! You nailed the mood! Sound effects and visuals are on point. The lack of a point in the middle of the screen made it difficult to interact with the ship though, and I couldn't quite figure out how to stop imploding. If you give an explanation I'll try again and change my rating. Take down the ludum page game though, it's likely stopping people from rating.

Very very cool little game, I love the idea and I love how it is done, great work on the mood and the lights effects!

I agree with the above in that a crosshair would have probably made interacting with what you wanted a bit easier. though i did realize quite late that the current controll was highlighted in red which then made controlling the submarine a bit better.

@crispypear thank you so much for that suggestion! I managed to add a small crosshair dot in the knick of time, with 3 minutes to spare :D I can't believe I didn't think of that...

I removed the embed also, it's a server side issue that also affects most (all?) Unity games and I was hoping the team here would fix it before the deadline and left it up just in case.

Regarding the imploding, that's when you crash too hard into the cave walls. Red warning lights will show when you're about to hit something. It can help to slow down and don't go full throttle.

aaaah i didn't realise right click also did something! Did a lot in fact! The crosshair helped a lot, this was a much nicer experience this time!

Took a few tries, managing the craft with water flowing in made it much harder. Would maybe move the controls a little higher so you can see more of where you're going while trying to manipulate them.

Still, really liked the how the controls manipulated, nice smooth feel on the steering. Great use of sound with the spooky shape appearing.
Overall thrilling entry, enjoyed the few minutes of subbing.

This does a great job of building mood and tension throughout the experience. I agree with others that the controls were a bit difficult to use, but not so much that I couldn't complete the game. I got the hang of them after a bit, and only crashed once before beating it.

I was surprised how quickly I got absorbed into the experience. Nice entry!

5/5 Mood! I was hooked immediately and I love how nerve-racking it is to thread the needle between cave walls and manage your controls while trying to pump the water out and move fast enough to stay ahead of danger. The low fidelity retro graphics and excellent sound design really make for a super immersive experience and easily one of my favorites of LD54!

Very cool little game, gave me penumbra feels as soon as it started! Was pretty hard to navigate in the dark/grey. Loved the multiple little inputs you need to mess around to make the ship move!

Very frantic game with a terrifying vibe! Definitely a great interpretation of the theme. I think the difficulty curve was maybe a bit too high given the relative complexity of the controls but I do think it adds to the pressure of the game. Nice work!

I really loved the mood you created, it felt very cramped and dingey, I think it worked really well. The audio is also really well done, the horn and red lights scared me when I was heading towards a rock! Really cool little game.

This looked very cool, but I couldn't play it on my laptop with integrated graphics, I had like 1 FPS.
