Limited Space by sebi

Do you ever feel like you are using your space bar too much? If so, then this game will be ideal for you!

Write as many English (US dictionary) words as you can using the least amount of spaces (the longer the word the better). Every round, two random letters are banned. By the way, your backspace key doesn't work, so be careful!

Have fun! :)

This is awesome! If someone had shown me this with no context, I never would have guessed that it's from a jam.

This was honestly so much fun, even if I managed to blank out on any words that didn't have the banned letters :'(

Interesting spin on the limited space theme, taken quite literally, I like the chill ambient atmosphere the audio gives the game. good job, I rate it

Cool idea, and an unique and fun implementation! I really like the challenge of racing through a list of words, trying to come up with the longest ones that don't contain those two blocked letters. I could see this making for a really fun singleplayer campaign-style game, too, where you have to complete a bunch of different typing challenges against different opponents that require to avoid different letters, suffixes, prefixes, etc depending on what type of enemy/opponent they are. I hope you decide to add more features and gameplay styles to the post-jam version! :)

Thank you everyone for your comments, I'm glad to hear the positive feedback!

@junagames Thanks for letting me know. I have added a second link hosted on github pages in case the first has any issues.

first try I didn't understand what you need to do, but after few restarts it's more clear what needs to be done. Maybe a tutorial/instructions before the time starts would work. Implementation is good, music is relaxing and visuals are wonderful. Good relaxed gameplay for a writers or people who like typing. Also makes you go through your vocabulary.

This is really clever! I don't know how you've managed to pull it off. It's simpe but ingenious too! The music and sound effects are wonderful as well! Great entry!

Very interesting implementation! As a non-native English speaker, this game takes me back to when I was first learning this language. Maybe it's time to recommend it to people involved in English teaching lol.

Since I am a fan of games like worlde, scrabble etc this game was really fun! It was an interesting way of giving the player scores and the banning of letters made it so my brain could only come up with words with the banned letters so it made it challenging.

Also it looks really beautiful 😀

I don't know how I managed to forget the whole dictionary after pressing the play button, and even after that every word I recalled had something to do with the missing two letters. I need a version of this where it randomly bans a new letter after every x seconds, would make the it quite hectic after a while

A fun spin on the theme, could be fun in a jackbox type local multiplayer setting ^^

(A side note: While I appreciate that you mention the use of midjourney for generating graphics in the credits, from my perspective it would be better to be more open about it on the ldjam page or perhaps even opt out of the graphics category, depending on if you modified the graphics yourself or if they are directly taken from midjourney.)

This was the literal approach. Both to the theme and gameplay-wise.

Interesting way of realizing the topic. I agree with the former comment, that it could make a nice multiplayer game. So far I also had fun playing this. As being non native in english language it also felt like a nice challenge to me :D

Oh wow this is hard… I didn’t realize how much I rely on backspacing as I type  Fun idea though—nice work!

This was fun to play. Playing this in multiplayer would be fun too I think.
Also: I think having to click restart every time and having a countdown breaks the game-flow a little bit. Maybe having the game just say what the next two letters are, without requiring to click restart would make the game a bit more fast paced.

Cool idea, nice graphics and polish but could do with a bit more meat to the game (not sure how - maybe make the letters explode as they come on screen?). Nice work overall.

Does what it sets out to do well, even if spelling isn't really my thing.
