You are a [insert random creature here] who works The Grave Shift - literally.

WASD/Arrow Keys to move. E to Interact or Read a Gravestone. R to dig up the Grave.

You have a limited amount of light, each time you move it uses the light up. You can go back over to your path to pick your light back up.

Each level will provide you with a riddle to solve, you need to find the Gravestone that matches the riddle.

The deeper you go, the harder it will get. Good luck!

The breadcrumb concept makes it very intuitive and pleasant to navigate, allowing you to focus on the atmosphere, which is also excellent. Good job :D

Loved the graphics/effects of the screen. As mentioned by the previous comment, I also loved the atmosphere! The droning sound added a creepy feeling to the game. Overall I think this was a cool idea, nice work!

I wasn't able to win the game, but I really enjoy it regardless. Great mood and aesthetics. Would have been helpful to pull up the riddle again as I forgot it when I was going around.

Nice mood, felt eerie and the graphics really suited. Enjoyed the riddle aspect. I got the same one twice so I assume they are selected from a bank at random. Would have preferred to have been able to hold down WASD rather than hit the key repetitively. I liked the lighting mechanic, great idea! Nice work!

I'm not sure if I'm playing this game properly. I found a grave and entered it, which I assume is like entering a level, but then in that level I find another grave with yet another riddle. So I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.

It's really annoying that you need to repeatedly press the same key to walk forwards, instead of being able to hold it. I do like the graphics, and the lighting mechanic, and the music really adds to the mood.

@sheepolution Yeah, I agree that we should have made the movement possible by holding down the button.

As for playing the game properly, you start each level and are given a riddle that hints to the grave you have to find. Then you look around the maze, find a grave, read it, judge if it is the correct one to match the riddle and then decide to enter it or not.

Great game!! Cool concept of losing your visibility! I just wish that the first level would be slightly easier kinda like a tutorial level! But cool concept overall!

Very atmospheric game, nice use of shaders and simplified palette :D!
I'll be honest, I was waiting for a jump scare to pop up at some point as my light got lower and lower - had to slowly focus more to see what was going on in the later levels XD.
Great work!

this game is really eerie, thats the best way i can describe it. it feels like any step you take youre gonna get jumpscared, and thats great in my opinion. my only complaint is that moving around is slightly tedious since you have to spam the direction you want to go in a ton. otherwise, great game! :)

It's a simple but fun game. My only complaint is that the movement, like already said, is tedious, i think it would be better if you just hold the button and the character moved. But, overall is a great game, good job!

atmosphere was very cool; both the CRT and pixel art graphics + SFX were very nicely done. I feel like the game itself though was kind of boring though? Like, the riddle idea was very cool, but it doesn't really provide enough interest to keep me hook. The breadcrumbs idea was also nice, but it basically just made it so if I took the wrong route I wouldn't be punished, but didn't really add any new interest

The idea with your path being highlighted to show where you already were and simultaneously replenishes the light is brilliant. I'll give you 5 for innovation just for that. Also there's poetry! Really cool work.

Some interesting ideas here. Really like the CRT effect laid on top, adds that little bit extra to the retro graphics. Great work!

Great atmosphere/vibes. Graphical effects were spot on too with dimming lights. Moving around was a little slow/rough.

A unique idea and a nice mood. I agree the movement could be more fluid. Also, there were a couple of cases where I chose the grave I was pretty sure was correct, but then when moving to the next level I got the same riddle again, then when choosing the same grave (in a new location) I would get a new riddle, so I found that a bit confusing.

I liked the atmosphere and it matches the theme, but as others have said, it's a bit annoying having to press the arrow instead of simply holding the arrow and walking. You can also tell when the theme song ends and starts again. The audio should be worked on so as not to notice the end, to fit perfectly giving the illusion of being infinite, but that's a small detail. But it was a good idea, it just needs some adjustments I think.

I appreciate the interpretation of the theme you've presented in this game. The effects are impressive, but it would be even better with a bit more space to fully appreciate them. I also agree that the movement could benefit from more fluidity.
Overall great game.
