One question: I understood what the anvil and wand traders were, what is the wheel supposed to be?
I like the drawings you made. They are well drawn out. Did you draw those on paper and scanned them?
gameplay wise I think it is missing some reason to collect the gold. Maybe you could exchange it for better looting chance? I guess you run out of time to work on it more. But great job for a gamejam!
I think the collecting items could be little bit faster.
Simple and easy to learn game. Could work on mobile too.
music and sound effects would at a lot the feel.
@extar The wheel is supposed to be a general store trader - not great prices but will buy anything. I couldn't think of an appropriate icon so went for something easy to draw.
@jukepoks1 Thanks! Yes, they're hand drawn and scanned in. I had a bunch more ideas that I didn't get chance to implement, such as buying more backpack space or doing quests for traders so they have more gold the next day, which would've given some more interesting decisions. But yeah, limited by time constraints.
In terms of game play it's nice !
I think I should not have picked up the cursed idol, I thought I could sell it to the magic shop but they only wanted 5 gold for it, I got scammed ! (I should have expected it with a name like that haha)
Just like the other comments said, some sound effects and a little music or ambient sound would add a lot to the game !
I liked it ! Good job !
Would have been great to have some music/sounds to give some more atmosphere - in the context of a Jam, just doing something simple (like recording your pencil scribbling on a page) still adds a lot in terms of player feedback imo.
Nice entry!
(I made 366 gold)
@sheepolution The challenge is supposed to come from balancing what you're picking up with the funds available at each trader. If you've already got 30 gold's worth of weapons and the blacksmith only has 30 gold, you're better off leaving that new high value sword and grabbing a lower value book. But I balanced it in a hurry so I might not've made the numbers interesting enough.
@larrymartinjr @ciaranw @chailotl @pierre-marie Thanks for playing! I'm glad you like the art, I was worried it was a bit overly simple. I definitely need to look into audio for next time.
I am actually really digging the art style. This game has a very clear visual identity and it felt charming.
From an improvement standpoint, adding sound + music would enhance the atmosphere. Also, it would have felt nice to introduce a new mechanic or twist with each new level to give players more of a sense of progression and mastery.
Great jam entry!
