Sky's the Limit by clema
The world is collapsing, a deterministic turn based RPG
Hint: tired of boring dialogue each time restarting the game? You can just start moving once the character is on screen! No need to go through Lady Angel's long speech:sleepy:
Gameplay
This game is short and a little challenging.
3 handcrafted levels and a little ending scene.
Combat is completely deterministic. Choose the best path to victory. You and all the monsters have health bars, attack, and defense. You can increase your stats by picking up buffs from floor.
Dark floors collapse each turn, plan out your path for the best build.
Controls
Press enter to go through dialogue
Press wasd or arrow keys to move
Click buttons to restart
Known Issues
Didn't have much time for testing. Let me know if there are bugs.

The health boosts don't seem to work, so the +999 health upgrades does nothing. I thought i'd beat the game when I finally got that, but no dice. Otherwise I hope you listened to Lady angel about the TODO list. Restarting from level one makes sense, but having to listen to the dialogue every time is a bit irritating. Lastly, I rarely actually fought the slimes. Making them drop something might make fighting them more interesting.
Aside from that, I really liked the game! The music is nice and fun, and the art and colors look great. I hope you continue to make games. You've earned yourself a follower!
Agree with the other comment about the slimes needing more a reason to fight them, but overall very well done
I liked that I had to stop and think instead of blindly brute forcing my way to the end. The music is soothing, visuals pretty and I liked the game!
Oops, that HP999 item wasn't suppose to be there. I originally had another route in mind with boosting HP and attack at the same time but didn't have time to design it in the end (I also had a bunch of other item ideas like temporary boosts and enemy drops that I didn't have time for haha...). And yes, UNDO, need to figure out how to do that before making the next grid based game.
I will definitely continue making games! This is my first Ludum Dare and I enjoyed doing work that normally takes weeks in 2 days lol.
Hi sorry for the not having undo or restart from level function implemented!
But you actually don't have to go through the dialogue! You can just start moving once the character is on screen.
Looks like a lot of people didn't realize that. I'll add it in the description.
Instead of the rewind/redo, maybe checkpoints at the start of each level could have worked ? That's assuming you can't be in a state where you can't beat the game if you didn't get enough upgrade in previous levels.
Imho without the combat mechanics and with just the cloud mechanics (which relate to LD54 theme the most) it would be an enjoyable cloud-walker game as the world is pretty nice to be in, personally I'd rather enjoy the atmosphere than rapidly add numbers.
I missed some animations, like the clouds dissipating or the enemies dying. Also there was one sound effect - I don't remember which one now -, that was a bit too loud, but nothing that turning down the volume didn't solve.
Good work on your first LD!
