Oh no! You, a vampire, have been captured by some vampire hunter wannabe and unceremoniously chained up in his shack!

This might be a problem for any other vampire spawn, but you're resourceful. Using your wits and whatever's been carelessly left in the tiny room with you, will you be able to escape?

Midnight Escape is a short point and click adventure game created in Ren'Py for Ludum Dare 54: Limited Space by vio (aka felldragonvio / bluemoonkid_art). I hope you enjoy!

EDIT 10/3: Added web player functionality over on itch.io! I still strongly recommend downloading the zip if possible, as the web version has some fun and fresh new performance issues that aren't present in the executable. It's still fully playable, though!

Great game! Solving the locker puzzle was fun. I would have enjoyed even more puzzles, but this is already great for the time you had.

The cute character art and dialogue adds a lot to the point & click adventure. I was left wanting to know more about this character (and the vampire hunter??) Oh and I don't know if it's a nod to the fact that the art is rushed in a game jam, or just so that it's hard to escape, but the door being painted on was really funny. :D

Loved the art & writing, the painted door is indeed pretty funny. Even though i'm pretty bad at puzzle games, i've managed to escape. Nice work!👍

The game is done just perfectly. I was surprised starting with the menu, it looks very aesthetically pleasing and it works. Then when I started the game I was surprised even more, because the scenes are drawn as perfectly as the menu. In the first scene it's like you predicted my actions. I saw and clicked the lock first, then the keys and the pole. And the character's comments were very relatable throughout the game. I rarely play games like this, but the atmosphere in this one is so nice, it made me want to solve this mystery for all it's worth. And how happy I was when I did. The game hints so neatly at the solutions that it feels like coming to it yourself.

Can you upload a web build? I'm pretty sure ren'py has html export.

I'd love to give this game a try, please tag me if you compile a version I can play in a browser!

Very good experience for a jam. Was hoping to get revenge as the vampire for the ending, but with the limited time for a jam, it's to be expected. :)

Not a big fan of point and click adventure games myself, but I think this one was pretty well designed (especially for such a short amount of time), with great graphics. Nice job!

LOVED IT! Super cute, when will we get to see more Demetrius!?
It was very fun, I was hooked. Shared it with my vampire friend who loves indie games, I just know he'll love this!

Nice project ! The graphics were good, and the story interesting, the take on the theme was cool. I liked the escape game / point and click feel it had. Also, I definitely enjoyed the fact that even if it wasn't necessary, you added save options ( that menu looks really good). Only thing that could be reworked a bit is the choice of fonts. But overall a really nice good project !

Nice short escape game! I like the fact that there's no need to open inventory to use items making the game more practical to play.
As for the theme, well it's common for escape games to have limited space so the theme is here.
