This is fantastic. The concept is very clever but simple, the game play is fun and ramps up in challenge well. The visuals and sound are simple but charming and feel appropriate for the style of game.I can easily imagine an expanded version of this game being an arcade hit back in the day.

Looks great! Neat idea of gameplay, simple & fun. It's also a cool take on the theme. Game design wise, I think the player has too many HPs, and it becomes too hard to avoid projectiles very quiclky. So I ended up not caring too much about dodging things and just fire at them. This said, if you don't have the time to balance gameplay, it's better to have too many HPs and enjoy firing at things. Great entry, congrats!

This game didn't limit the space into smaller spaces, it limited the space into a rail, a lower **dimension**!!

Great idea! Great work!

I like shrinking the center as a measure of health, though it seems like it can snowball if the things get too low. Also while that fact that you can't both move and shoot is fine, the fact that you move slightly between each shot seems like an oversite.

很好的小街机游戏,就是中后期敌人多了之后移动躲避的收益太低了,玩家在原地一直按着开火键也可以坚持很长时间

Fun game! Once you start playing, you can't stop. (I find that many times it is better to stay still than to move and aim)

What an elegant entry! I love the simplicity of this yet the great engagement. There is a subtle balance here where you CAN hold to shoot... but actually mashing the keys allows it to be faster which is a great player trade off/choice. I like this a lot. Nice work!

This PICO-8 entry works great! I appreciate the deliberate tuning that prevents players from spamming both shooting and moving simultaneously. The dynamic difficulty is a standout feature, making it genuinely more challenging to dodge bullets within the confines of a larger circle, creating a unique and engaging gameplay experience. Great work!

Delicate desgin~~Like the idea how the score and hp are implied by the shrinking of internal cycle.

Awesome entry! I really liked how simple everything was -- how to play, the player's health, and the game's mechanics were pretty much self-explanatory, making it a great game to pick up and play to try and nab a high score. Where it fails is with balance, as I felt that the player had too much health, and too many enemies spawned too quickly. Perhaps giving the player less health and focusing more on dodging (at least in the early game) would improve this, as I ended up not caring about dodging, but rather shooting as many enemies as possible. Either way, I think the mechanics are solid and well implemented, particularly with the slower movement speed whilst shooting, as it provides important decision making and fast-paced thinking on whether to be offensive or defensive. Overall, really great stuff here, and an awesome idea that could be expanded upon into quite a lovely arcade-styled game! Great job :)

Very simple and very clever. Very clean. Very short. Really nicely polished. Could use more audio! Nice entry! Well done!

This was pretty fun and satisfying to play, even though it was really simple. It reminded me of an old flash game that I used to play as a kid, and your game transported me back to my childhood 🥹🥹🥹

Excellent idea and executed flawlessly. I really liked that I was limited in my movement, in space. A fun bullet hell, great jam!

Survived 4min and 08s!

THIS GAME IS SO FUN ?? Like actually ? The graphics are really clean (even though they're just circles) and the sound effets are cool as well.
I like how bullet-hellish the game become at the end, in my opinion the very slow focus mode when shooting was a bit of a hindrance and made avoiding bullets near the end almost impossible.
Glad to see a game made on Pico-8 for this Ludum Dare ! Really fitting with the theme haha, you sure had limited space when coding this.

I don't know if this was an inspiration, probably not, but this REALLY reminds of the of game "Ghost Mayoker" that has a similar principle (you are a ball, shooting bullets on an orbit). In fact, the way your player character move is exactly the same (except that there is no focus mode and you have the same speed when you shoot, and you can "flip sides" of the orbit kinda. The ennemies don't shoot projectiles however, and you have to protect your center

It's uncanny how similar the 2 games look, but the gameplay is still pretty different, as your game has a very nice bullet hell aspect to it ! A funny coincidence how close the 2 games are, both of you basically had the same idea lmao !

I hope you can continue working on it and add more ennemy types/shot patterns, cause playing this is a BLAST honestly, I'd definitely play a version with more content/replayability.

Probably the best game out of the 5 I've tested so far !
