Defend our environment against motorists

The year is a big number. Take whatever you're thinking of, and add at least 20. The motorists have paved almost every surface on the planet, except for a small strip of grass. Can you stop them from flattening and paving the last of our green space?

Made from scratch with C++ & SDL. Works on Windows & macOS.

Made in pure C++? Neat, that's very hard. Cool little sortof-tower-defense game, although since the turrets only fired forward I pretty quickly got into a pattern of putting the nails thing to stop individual cars and hoping the turrets would eventually get one so I could increase my money. Hopefully we wont have destroyed THIS much of the earth by 2043.

Neat little game indeed. I actually figured i just use all X-es to protect so it was a very simple but boring strategy. Then i was trying to buy some shooters but only very rarely get the trucks hit them... Anyway with some further tweaking this could be indeed some very interesting tower defense game.

@jahwffrey @epa @hotaloca Thanks so much for playing! I wanted to do so much more with it but I got started later than I wanted so alas. :)

Pretty nice, straight forward TD. Would have liked some more items to use eventually, as the stategy of clicking on cars to stop them got a bit old after a few times. I liked the idea that we are stopping the cars to save the grass haha

Technically impressive what with it being from scratch, but the gameplay came out super thin. Not bad, but just a bit boring - pause 'n throw a hedgehog in front of a truck, repeat until you've got $6, stop the next truck with a gun, repeat until you've a gunwall.

Are you planning a post-jam version with some more defense types or opponent types? Little extra meat could make this a fun little game.

It's great that you can make a game in pure C++ without using engines. I hope one day I reach the same level. My respect sir! Overall, the game is pretty good, but in my opinion, the theme of limited space is not addressed in the best way

I saved the grass! Yay! (Weirdly, it looked like I was protecting a highway construction over the grass...)

I could nitpick about many things, but this was actually one of the more fun entries of the jam for me so far, gameplay was sufficient amount of engaging despite being quite easy.

The strategy is very simple, you can beat it with just $1 and placing obstacles, don't even need to pause. I would've enjoyed having more building options and increasing difficulty, tower defense style.

On the looks side, the background textures could have neater tiling, they look a bit 2007.

Pretty simple, impressive that you made it from scratch. I'd say have the cars move at different speeds, not too much strategy involved but it is fun.
