The incredible adventure of Bonaventure the Hero by ThomasLebel

Hear ye, hear ye, good folk! This is the story of Bonaventure, young hero in the making!
We invite you to discover (and share) young Bonaventure's very first adventure! An epic tale of sweat, blood and swords!

Help Bonaventure on his quest for initiation and go on the hunt for the maiden-robbing brigands!

Well, it was a fun jam once again. Seems i can't learn from my mistakes :expressionless: I always end up having to rusher things in the last few hours without being able to do a proper debugging session. Worst of all, I haven't even had time to do the graphics or sound design!
But... I'm still pretty proud of myself! While the theme didn't inspire me much in the first place, I really like the idea I've been able to develop here. I find the concept quite interesting, and it makes me want to continue and build on Bonaventure's adventures.
In any case, I hope you enjoy discovering my game!
I know there are a number of concerns: - the music doesn't loop properly - some texts are too big for their box - problems with the brigands' AI - the English was written with the help of Deepl - so many other things :D
Looking forward to try your games aswell !

The only thing that I would like to see different is the text boxes. The text changing abruptly in the boxes was a bit jarring. Maybe with some more time you could try putting the text on the pages with a typing animation. ;)
J'ai trouvé ça assez dur de repasser de l'action à la lecture à cause des placements des deux, et j'avoue avoir été un peu déçu qu'il n'y ait pas plus de surprises dans l'écriture.
Bravo pour cette compo en tout cas ✨
Other than that, I really like the concept!
EDIT: I noticed that you can go to the other room without picking up the sword and can't go back. This should be fixed somehow.
Gameplay-wise I didn't know I can change the weapon and I was a bit confused when I didn't have the sword anymore. It also seems if you change weapons the old weapon is just gone, but I think it would work way better if the old weapon was placed in the world, in case the player change weapons by accident or just want to test the other weapon.
While looking at the bottom part of the screen, it felt sometimes a bit hard to see what part of the text in the upper part was added to the existing text. Maybe it might be helpful if the old text part were grey and have only the new text in white, so the player can easier spot the new text.
But again, overall I thought this is a great game!
