Hellfire Tiles by Alvina

[raw]
made by Alvina for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

Hellfire Tiles is a 3D Vampire Survivor that relies on a "space is currency" mechanic.

Every few seconds, new tiles will appear around the player to make the platform they stand on bigger. The goal here is to survive for the longest time. You can choose to sell some of the tiles surrounding you in exchange for upgrades but beware because you're surrounded by lava and enemy might push you in it !

Hellfire Tiles is a story about Vlad's journey, an enigmatic figure thrust into the heart of the infernal territory war. Will Vlad rise and conquer the infernal realm, or will he become just another casualty in the war for Hell's dominion? Only your skill and cunning will determine the outcome!

This menu did have cure for my non-existent marriage. Amusing text there~ I feel like the impact sound and music levels felt a bit too apart. Game-play was fine, although the start was really slow - so perhaps the pacing needs a bit of a bump in speed. Neat work!

getting the axe upgrade made me finally be able to survive. nice take on the theme!
Was a bit hard to tell the hitboxes and get a good feeling for the controls

Very fun take on the theme! The nihilistic text-to-speech narration was a great touch to the game :D

I like the way you putted dungeon construction, rogue lite element, and incoporate the theme in your game. The game need more polish and can be very good. I think you just need to upgrade the battle effect and movement, because i have the impression of slide on the floor. But hat's really a good job for a jam game ! (et francais en plus ! bravo a vous)

Nice take on a (by now) well known formula. My biggest complain is that the hitbox radius's felt a bit off. I don't know how to explain, but many times I felt like dodging out of the way in time but still got hit. Also the audio voices are quite dull and take more from the experience than it adds.

Edit: you might want to connect your itch.io submission to the LD page.

It's a cool idea but it was a bit too easy, so I never felt the pressure of having to decide whether I want to get an upgrade or keep some more space to run around. And after getting some upgrades, the game basically plays itself. I enjoyed it, stopped after 101 kills :)
Oh and those voice overs are quite funny!
