The beeper Man by FanNevada

[raw]
made by FanNevada for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

The game is played with the space bar only. Launch the game, turn your head and communicate with this single key.

You play the role of a mute man locked up with a telegraph as his only means of communication. Every day, a guard orders him to send a message to the rest of the prison. Your goal is to carry out the warden's orders for 2 years. But if only there were a way to escape...

Our initial idea was "a game with only the space barre to use" following a last minute problem the different endings are not available but you can test the first days :) If you want to know the development of our ideas go on this website ( Miro ): https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVMj9cd6s=/?sharelinkid=422590236915

I love how literally you took "limited space" and ran with it. I have terrible working memory, so I spent most of my time referencing the code poster, but this is otherwise a very cool and interesting game.

The idea is fun, but I will also say the game is difficult to play. I sometimes lost some information, and then I had no idea what to do. The game looks okay. The sound effects is okay, but the game is also really quiet. Overall an interesting little jam game.

The keyboard detection is really good, but I think I'm stuck at the raise temprature part..

Wow, love the space bar command system and what you guys did with the theme :)

Interesting concept! I definitely took a photo of the poster so I could remember commands.. I did feel like I would sometimes complete a puzzle and then not receive a response. Overall, I really like this concept and could see a larger suspenseful game out of it!

Thank you for your feedback! I think I will add more feedback in-game to better guide the player. We also have three endings and a better end-of-day system. the jam is over so we have more time X)

awesome concept! I wasn't able to get past the part where you send "raise temperature" I wasn't sure how to send the message aftering entering the message

i really like the concept! but i could not get past the raise temperature part either. everything else worked fine. but i wasnt able to send the message (or get positive feedback for that). would love a feature to switch spacebar input feedback on/off, so that players can choose if they want to see input feedback or not. soundscape is nice. graphics are nice too. but like i've said, it was kinda too hard for me to play.

I played 'The beeper Man' and I thought the idea was super original! The feeling of being trapped and communicating only with a code is very immersive. The aspect of trying to remember the codes makes the game a challenge, but at the same time it makes you feel the pressure of the character. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps having a more accessible code guide, or some kind of tip, especially for those moments where we get really lost. Overall, a game with a unique concept and very well executed . Congratulations!

I like the concept of the game a lot and I think it has lots of potential if done right. Couldn't memorize all the commands (maybe have a journal that has them with you at all times?) and didn't know what to do after plugging the jack.

I like the concept but man it was way too complicated for me. I think I would have fun just playing with the telegraph and not having to remember a bazilion combinations to rotate the camera and whatnot.

Trying to work out combination to look in a different direction is what ended upkilling the game for me. I can see where this is going and I could see myself enjoying it but I think limiting to space bar is maybe taking the theme slightly too far albeit its a very creative idea!

Very cool concept, and once I got used to it the input detection worked really well. I entered "raise temperature" and then wasn't sure what to do, I think a little more player feedback would help a lot to prevent confusion.

I liked how it fit the theme. Game play was a little difficult to figure out. Neat concept.

A good double implementation of "Limited space" and "Interaction limited to space bar". It would be better if there is a quest notice UI on the top right corner.
