Little Cart of Junk by auxC

[raw]
made by auxC for Ludum Dare 54 (JAM)

One way to entertain yourself in the post-apocalypse is taking your Moving Platform for a walk and pretending to do Shopping. Gather items on the platform and try to avoid a janky physics catastrophe.

Controls: - Click and drag nearby items to swing them around. - Release to throw. Do the flick! It's all in the wrist.

If you run out of space just stack items on top each other, it's gonna be fine.

Mechanics abound! Ice cubes are slippery, bombs are ticking down and Skelebro is sad.

Thanks for checking out our game, have fun! :D

~~(sorry no Web build this time... Maybe we'll figure out how to fix it later)~~

Edit: Web build now works on Chrome! Firefox is still a disaster, so consider downloading the Windows version if you're using that.

This was a blast! Definitely in my top 5, great polish, sounds, pixel art, and that tasteful LD jank. Sometimes hard to tell how much it takes to throw something, but overall not detrimental. Great work!

Very funny game ! I would love to see it as a multiplayer couch game such as tricky tower with more power ups. The polysh is very good for a jam game, explosion are always fun !

Really solid little game! Great aesthetic, sound, and design! Everything feels incredibly polished, well done :) My only gripe was I REALLY struggled to throw things. Sometimes I could proper yeet things out of the way, other times (particularly when there was a pile of bath tubs) I couldn't get them to clear the cart. Maybe the difficulty ramps up a little too quickly too? The amount of junk in your path seems to increase faster than I could learn how to throw things, but maybe that's just a skill issue haha.

Overall, really great game though! I could easily see this becoming a fully fledged game with more objects, different carts, environments, and all that etc.

This was pretty fun, the cart kept having some problems with items getting it stuck. Franticly clearing the junk while trying to keep the objectives on the cart was fun. Good submission guys!

Great game! Totally reminded me of Surgeon Simulator. I quit on the second level after spending about twenty minutes trying to get the stupid beachball and ice cube into the tub onto the cart. The only complaint I had was that if you had items in the tub and clicked on the tub, most of the time it would register that you clicked on an item in the tub, even if that item wasn't really close to where you clicked. But otherwise it was awesome!

Overall a nice, good-looking, and polished game. Some of the physics were a bit inconsistent though, with most items hardly moving at all, but when they collide in a weird way they yeet themselves into the stratosphere. Also, I assumed that collecting everything on the shopping list would complete the level, but I collected all of them on the cart a few times and it didn't move on.

This game is so hard and frustrating for me  , I can never throw things back far enough over the cart, but can launch most things forward with enough speed. The junkjard level with 8 items is just impossible especially with the bomb going off  The visuals, audio, humor, take on theme are all great.

Very nice game! I liked the mechanics and that I only need a mouse to play. I also liked how relaxing music is, although the game process isn't relaxing at all! Congrats!

Fun with physics! I was pretty terrible at this game, but it was still fun. Launching objects around and watching them smash into each other is always satisfying. Especially when they're skeletons and bathtubs!

This was fun and only a little bit of a ragefest :D The music you chose fit great with the physics freakout :P Overall great entry and in line with the theme!

Cool idea, and well executed game. I like the graphics and the absurdly impractical interactions and physics. I did wish for some minor jump or throwing things up a little bit higher but all in all a very nice experience.

It was very frustrating to grab an object and not be able to put it directly in the cart, but it's part of the game, so it's OK. I loved throwing away all the unwanted objects that blocked my cart. It's quite fun seeing them flying through the whole screen, even if I'm terribly bad at aiming precisely to make them land safely on the cart.

There are nice ideas on the variety of object types : different sizes, shapes and weight. I loved the ice cube which are very slippy. Understanding why you would need ice cubes is beyond my intellectual capacities, but anyway...

It's a little too bad that we only have to put the needed objects on the cart to instantly win the level. We don't have the feeling of bringing them back home, like a true post-apocalyptic scavenger would do. And it would have been the occasion to reward good players who are able to put many objects on the cart, opposed to less good players who would have to make more trips to bring them all back.

I won the second level completely by chance. I was painfully putting objects on the cart, then it rolled over a phone pole, which was the last needed object, I won. But I totally did not deserve it.

Nice idea, need to be readjusted.
