Cranedemonium by kuggenhoffen

Cranedemonium is a game where you will crane around containers inside a tight and crowded warehouse.
Arrow keys to move crane.
W and S to raise and lower crane.
A and D to rotate crane.
Space to grab / drop container.
Unfortunately no audio this time, time went into learning godot, gdscript and battling the physics... Also no webgl build because of jolt.
Note to self, maybe don't make a physics based game next time

The only deterring factor for me is the timer system. The timers way too short for me I only could the first Level (non tutorial) fully and the last at about 60% I think.
A medal system gold, silver, bronze with infinite timer would be better here. Or at least only the unlimited timer, to have your players let them have the fun with the wonky system is what sparked the joy for me.
Focus on that more and you got a banger title, imo!
Keep it up, I hope you revise this a bit and go at it even further!
@congeesetador Thanks for playing, I'll see about adding the controls to the pause menu, that might help remembering them.
The small hole was half intentional and half not, but I agree that it is a bit too small. I was intending to add some force to the conveyor which would guide the crate a bit better into the hole but didn't get to it. The conveyor also has way too little friction sideways so the crates just slide to the side and get stuck...
@fudgegonewild I'll have a play with the mouse control, might be nice.
@stealthorc Thanks for playing, I agree the timers are too short. I didn't realise when setting them that I've been practicing and playing the game for two days compared to a "newcomer", added a note to self for next jam to check the difficulty :D Also that medal system is such a good idea, I was struggling to come up with a good goal for the game but that would be a perfect fit!
@mkoziello @candyyy0728 Thanks for playing!
I sadly met a bit of a game-stopper bug. The crate just refused to get any ropes and be picked up. It might have been caused by me knocking this crate off the top of the stack with the crane. But who knows. It only happened once.

Graphics is alright. Nothing amazing, but does its job well. Shame there are no sounds - that could really add to the experience. I imagine something cartoony and a bit silly. I am not a very serious crane operator, am I? No one should trust me with their containers, really
Nice game!
I did skip ahead to the last level, which I did enjoy, since the timer was longer so I could have more time playing with the controls. It was interesting to have to dig underneath and find the named containers so put on the belts, and felt like real crane operator work. Some sound and music would be very welcome though.
Graphics look cute and suit the game well - it looks nice!
Minor comment on the menus - I kept trying to use my mouse, but that obviously didn't work - it would be nice to have some mouse support in them. I did appreciate the level select so I could see more of the game even though I was bad at it
It seems like some of the issues I had were brought up already, but the couple bits of feedback I'd have are:
- The time between dropping the crate on the belt and receiving score/confirmation felt pretty long. I failed a level because I was anxiously waiting for my crate to get far enough while it was out of view.
- A couple times I got a crate rotated upside-down, which seemingly made it unrecoverable. I'm not sure if this is intentional - it felt a bit defeating to have to restart because it rotated weird on the way to the exit
Definitely seems like the type of game that could go far with some polish, very solid job overall!
@fabula-rasa Thanks for great feedback! Fallen over containers can still be picked up if you move the hook close to the middle of the side with the text, I didn't have time to make it work from all sides, that's on the todo list now! Also sound and music, I've been thinking something cartoony that adds to the urgency and chaos when trying to move the containers aroudn fast.
@mistercarson Thanks for playing! Crane speed sounds like a good idea, I'll add it to the todo list!
@ciaranw Great feedback and thanks for trying it out! I'll see about fixing the mouse on the menus. The other stuff is already under work!
@bobbie Very good feedback, both issues are easy to fix and really do take away from the experience when encountered.
@juanrod707 @melowicyan @mooptychunk Thanks for trying it out!
@paul-maaswinkel Thanks for playing! Sorry about ,ouse not working on menus wasn't intentional, not sure why that happened. Physics are kinda hacky so they do flip out occasionally.
@mehul Wacky physics and controls was a bit intentional, but I'll have a play around with the controls to see if mouse or controller would work well. Thanks for playing!
