Hydrated by TnT

[raw]
made by TnT for LD33 (JAM)
Hydrated, a game where Hera sends you, a Hydra, off on a great quest to eat ALL of the people.

THIS IS AN ARCADE GAME!

Really, really high scores are possible, so we added a global leaderboard to track it! Play against your friends!

That being said, the game gets progressively harder, to the point that the game will lag significantly. It is all part of the game, have fun!

ASWD or Arrows to move (or right click)
SPACE to eat people (or left click)
YOU MUST HOLD SPACE TO KEEP EATING
1 and 2 or mouse wheel to scroll
The hydra always points toward the mouse, use it to move!

The leaderboard is currently viewable at the end of the game, but we are working on getting it onto this page if we can too.

**NOTE: We fixed the extreme lag from preventing the final wave, making the game beatable (still may lag near the end). The original is still linked as well.

Coming Soon:
Port to gamepad
Possible port to Applet

Hail Hydra!

It was hard to tell if the people are enjoying it or not but I got 200 tentacles and that's good enough for me. Truly we are the monsters.

Sadly I didn't encounter the army defense because the game started lagging. Up to that point the game is not very challenging - I just watched my head-count grow.

Well, it's not visually attractive but it's always fun to watch tentacles noming stuff around. It won't win anything but as least made me laugh.

A good start on a game, for sure. It didn't seem like there was any pressure though, just grow a hundred heads and hold space. Definitely something that could be taken further!

It crashed after the tutorial, but skipping it it worked fine

I made a hydra-ball and my computer started overheating.

It gets pretty heavy on the cpu with a lot of heads (and self sustainable), but this is way too much fun.

Check it out: http://imgur.com/skDWPk2 (a few seconds later it was at more than 900 heads)

It's fun eating people, and I like the progression of adding tentacles. I can see where the game is going, but it isn't quite there yet.

It is a good start some something cooler.
The gameplay isn't really fun at the moment, that fealing of eating people isn't very rewarding, lack of feedbacks.

I wonder, why the original hydra didn't use that tactic to allow people beheading it - once a puny hero with cauterize tactics arrives, it could easily eat that one - and that hero couldn't even share that the tactic worked.

A simple concept, but really fun to play a green 200something tentacle ball, wreaking havoc over that city ^_^
