I think I may not be the target audience for the writing, as much of the context flew over my head (tureblue mother? Mansion basement full of farting clowns?).
I didn't quite have time to finish - but the backgrounds were all beautiful, the art was very well rendered, and the music pleasant and varied.
As I said, I didn't finish and missed some of the context - but from what I understand, I think the core message was ultimately about acceptance and being supportive to others, so that is always good.
One thing I should note - it seems work may have started on the game several weeks ago. Perhaps I misunderstand, but maybe the game was started a while ago, then put it away for a few weeks, picked it up again for ld#55?
I think this is technically allowed by the rules, but maybe seems like it goes against the spirit of the jam.
I could totally be wrong about this - folks correct me if I am.
Well, this game is the third and last of a series of games under the collective umbrella of "The Hizzokahpolis Chronicles", so if you want to, you can play Bittersweet Harvest (LD52) and Occhiolism (LD54) to understand much of the context (and also the cameos).
And regarding the core messages, you've nailed it re: acceptance and being supportive to others. There's also the core message of "no place on earth is a utopia/dystopia; it's what you make of it", which is pretty much associated with the villain (slight spoiler alert).
nice job! :D
I also didn't know you could submit same game under multiple jams if they exist at the same time. Thats epic!
nice job!
Can you please rate my game? :)
