Windows build link doesn't seem to work.

For being as simple as it is, it does have a cool atmosphere already :sweat_smile:

Totally agree with @timur-bahadir I threw it onto my Steam Deck to play because of the mood, aesthetic and audio. I just wish I didn't keep falling through the ground. :(

@dogshroom : Thank you!

@timo654 : Thank you for letting me know! Fixed it.

@timur-bahadir : Thanks!

@rainybyte : Thanks for trying it out! The track-generator destroys track parts that are off-screen, that's why you fall through the ground. I'm gonna fix that.

Nice, it does work now. I played it for a bit, it does look nice. I hope you can finish it eventually.
I did have a one-time bug where I (assume that I) hit the next track part start and it felt like I hit an invisible wall. I was able to continue fine after I was forcibly stopped. Wasn't able to reproduce though, but it happened on the right side of the road.

It’s genuinely enjoyable to just cruise around in that setting. Even without structured gameplay, turning on a podcast and driving through the game’s world feels incredibly relaxing and immersive.

I can totally imagine how cool it would be if the gameplay involved the main character performing rituals while driving—laying out ingredients on the dashboard and the armrests :)

Hey, I really like the moment when the level is destroying on your back while you are driving the car.

Was it for the jam or the compo? Sorry for some reason I can't see it on this page now, or maybe it's because it says extra.

You did a pretty good job on the car mechanics indeed! Maybe you could leave it half that cool and add something like death is drove into a mystical thing and +1 if drove into a green pentagram + a time limit and minimal count to win.

But even as it is you did well with the visual part and sound. I fell off a cliff to see what happens and car sound was changing in an interesting way. I expected some message that I am high on drugs and dead :D Because those things on the road didn't do anything to me like a mirage and it was my decision to drive into the void.

Anyways. I'd try playing a complete game with such visuals.

@n3k0k33p3r : I'm glad that you like it and find it relaxing! Now I think I have to include a "Zen-Mode" into the final game :) I like your idea, but I have a feeling the "authorities" in the game would not be very happy about it. I dont know.

@timo654 : Thanks for playing it! I'm working on a postjam version atm.
You are right about the cause of the bug. I have tried different things already to fix it (bigger colliders, bigger margin, Capsule collider at the edges of the road part, increasing physics tick etc.), but the physics/collision-system in Godot is... um... not very cooperative ^^

@viirta : Thanks for playing and that you like that part ^^ Currently the road destruction is just out of performance reasons, but maybe it could be enhanced by a big, shadowy monster which hunts after you and breaks the road behind you ^^

@ruslana : Thanks for playing! I aimed for the Jam category, but I switched to Extra, because I couldn't finish it in time. I thought the game included to little to be in Jam but to much to be marked as unfinished.

Glad you like the car mechanics and your ideas are nice! I currently work on a postjam version which includes some of those things ^^.

Really nice that you like the visuals and sound. I think, for the case that players just jump into the void, the infinitly increasing pitch of the car engine sound is punishment enough for a "Game Over" xD

I hope I get the postjam version ready in the next few days.

@freshd Wish you to make the post jam version the way you planned!

And that game over sound wasn't bad really. More like mysterious :)

You've managed to capture that retro racing game feel perfectly! Enjoyed the atmosphere a lot! There is 1 bug though where I was able to turn my car around and then fall out of the world after driving backwards xD

Love the graphics in this projec! The sound design of the engine revving up was also really nice, especially the panning as you turn around. Shame there's not more objectives to aim for but being targeted by the shadow tentacle thing for a moment was enough encouragement to get away asap :laughing: Great stuff overall!

Definitely a great tone set for this game. Love the retro feel and I hope you get to make this in your complete vision!

Really cool aesthetic - spooky PSX games are simply the best. Gameplay was pretty repetitive not sure if there was an ending but I did enjoy driving around for a while. Nice work!

This was really neat! I love the visual style and vibe you got going, just give it some more time in the oven and you'll be golden!

With the right balance of gameplay (turns in the road, creepy forests, etc) this would make for a nice podcast-listening game. I like the vibe you've set up

Great fun! The gameplay experience is really cool! I love the enemy physics and how they slow you down. The graphics are very well done; they give the game a truly spectacular mood. It's a pity that the game isn't fully completed, but I understand that it might take time because the enemy physics are very, very well implemented! Great game!

The atmosphere of the game is very cool, I really like the graphics. Moreover, the car controls feel good. I would really like to see what the game could become with more gameplay elements. Well done!

Got a great mood to it, the audio combined with the visuals. Eerie lighting and I'm a sucker for the pixel style. Would love if it ended up with a gameplay loop but there's clearly some awesome intention with this so I enjoyed it regardless. Nice one!

I'd love to see it developed further! Simple mechanics, moody graphics. Love how the monsters tentacles reach for you even after you already passed them.
