Eventually the game just hung after being stuck in a block and I had to end it with task manager. In retrospect, I don't think I really focused on the programming side of it as much as I should have done. I put in the collision\/chasing coding and thought 'Eehh.... It functions, I suppose!' The main control method of the game (scare the boxes) was a little opaque at first, but I grapsed it quite quickly. The collision system is needing a lot of work I'm afraid, the game routinely crashed on me about 3 or 4 times before I could finish because I just got stuck on the boxes forever. I also managed to scare a box out of the level, which was pretty sweet I guess. But, as people have been saying: collision problems make the game unplayable sometimes and I had that problem where I had to open the Task Manager to close the runtime.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>The graphics are pretty cute and, together with the soundtrack, it gives that feeling of an old Sega Genesis game.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>With more work you could turn this into a nice tribute to 16-bit games. All these questions will be answered.... probably never!\r\n\r\n==== Fun Facts! ====\r\n\r\n- Chicken Girl's standing sprite takes up a total of 449 BYTES!\r\n- The girl's not actually a chicken.\r\n- The girl's intended run cycle was supposed to be her prancing around all cute! But I couldnt' stop seeing her as a chicken due to her chunky arms, flapping motion and her dress (looked a bit like she had a little duck tail)!\r\n- I really wanted to shade Chicken Girl better and give her a much smoother 8-frame animation but didn't really have the time to.\r\n- Well, same thing for the Jellyfish (?) Monster really! I wanted to make all the animations super-pretty!\r\n- Chicken Girl's hair accessory was supposed to signify her Monster form's eyeballs but, when it came to drawing the monster, having spherical eyeballs just made her look really really silly.\r\n- Chicken Girl has a slightly more devious look on her face when she moves.\r\n- Though it was completely unintentional, the Jellyfish Monster form reminds me a lot of the animals from the game 'Shantae' on the GameBoy Color, which was animated by some of my favourite artists! \u2764\r\n- I came up with the name in literally a minute because the time was up and I had to export it right then so I had to quickly name it SOMETHING! ....ANYTHING!\r\n- Although the game is quite glitchy, this is the smoothest Ludum Dare I've ever done!\r\n\r\n==== Update ====\r\n\r\nJust quickly updated a couple of tiny things:\r\n- Altered the Transformation cooldown to be a bit longer so you wouldn't accidentally switch back and forth between modes with a keypress!\r\n- Music now switches back to the Human mode music upon entering a GOAL door as the Monster.","title":"Chicken Girl in Toyhouse!"}
