Rules

There is a number of mechanics you should understand in order to win by defeating all monsters. Don't forget: Exploring the rules is part of the fun! You may need multiple attempts before you manage to win.

Goal of the game

Defeat all monsters. Your final score is amount of your coins plus 3 times the amount of your diamonds.

Resources

There are 3 resources. - ๐Ÿ’ฐ are useful for buying new cards into your deck. They also act as your life counter: each turn a monster is attacking your castle, you lose number of ๐Ÿ’ฐ based on the strength of the monster. - ๐Ÿ’Ž are rare resource useful for summoning your cards. Whenever you should pay ๐Ÿ’ฐ but you have none left, a ๐Ÿ’Ž will be used as a ๐Ÿ’ฐ. - โš”๏ธ are needed to kill monsters that are attacking your castle. Each monster has an indicated number of โš”๏ธ needed to defeat it. To kill a monster, click on it. If you don't have enough โš”๏ธ, you use 4 ๐Ÿ’ฐ as 1 โš”๏ธ. Unused โš”๏ธ are transformed into ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Areas

At the bottom, there are cards in your hand. You can do one of 3 things with each card in your hand... - Play the card: click on the card effect to evaluate its effect and put it into your discard pile. The card always gives you some resources. Cards with the ๐ŸŽด effect draw you a card. - Summon the card: click on the โญ button to summon the card: pay its summon cost in top left and put it into your summon area. From now on, gain that card's effect at the start of every turn. - Keep the card: sometimes, you may want to keep the card. You will pay 1 ๐Ÿ’ฐ for each card you decide to keep. In the middle, you have your summoned cards.

On the top of the screen, there is an offer of cards you can buy into your deck. The cost is in the top-right corner. The new card goes into your discard pile.

Turn structure

At the end of every turn, several things happen: - Convert swords to coins: lose all your swords and gain the same amount of coins - Activate summoned cards: do all the effects on all the cards you have summoned so far - Activate monsters: there are monsters coming to your castle. All the monsters move one step closer to the castle. Monster that are already in front of your castle take ๐Ÿ’ฐ according to their strength. If you don't have enough resources, you lose the game. - Draw 3 cards: Whenever you should draw a card and your deck is empty, your discard pile will be shuffled to form a new draw deck.

I love this! It took me a while to understand what was happening, but once I did I really got into it.

Really fun! At first it was very difficult to get anywhere but eventually I got a really strong economy going. I managed to beat the game with a really small deck with tactician & spy, which pretty much breaks the game because you can just keep grabbing them over and over. Kind of cheating.

Lots of depth to this game! It was a little painful trying to figure it out at first, I think an in-game tutorial could have greatly improved the experience. But once I got a handle on it I was enjoying myself.

It takes a bit to get used to, but honestly it's very interesting. Feels fairly polished as well so great job  One minor thing I would have liked, is a button to restart instead of refreshing the page, when I feel fairly deffeated and just want to try again.

This was great! It felt like a board game. Took mem a little time to work it out but loved it once I did. Great concept to build on.

I really enjoyed the mechanics of the game, but either I was very bad at it or the balance was a bit off, I was very quickly out-scaled by the monsters in all cases. I feel like I didn't have the opportunity to get enough swords in my deck quick enough to start scaling.

Very difficult to wrap my mind around it, but I can get what you're going for! There's some nice resource management and puzzling going on, and I like the overall idea. I think I ran into a few visual glitches (like extra cards appearing when restarting and overlapping monster cards) but that might just be me misunderstanding a mechanic.

Not sure why my monsters aren't dying, and the gold they are taking per turn keeps raking up. Would like to see the concept but with a bit more qol

Managed to defeat the dark lord using the infinite card draw combo! It took me way too long to find it though.

Anyway, this was amazing!! I played it for over an hour I think - it was so much fun! I loved all the trade-offs between the different resources, figuring out when to summon cards, when to use them, when to keep them for next turn... It had so much depth! The balance was a little off - the Advanced Prospector was so good I kept refreshing until it showed up in the initial shop, and the aforementioned infinite draw is obviously pretty broken - but that's to be expected in a compo game. My only nitpick is that the Dark Lord growing stronger every turn felt a bit overtuned - in the one attempt where I actually reached it in a pretty good state without the infinite combo, I was suddenly wrecked when it kept growing massively every turn. It was also very easy to forget that you could attack with coins. Other than that though, I loved this! Awesome entry!

That was really fun! One bug I found is, after restarting the game after Game Over, I opened the rules menu and accidentally clicked outside of it, which moved one of the cards to the middle - when I closed the rules, I got another game over and a word instead of the money number, I believe "NaN" or something similar - clicked through before I screenshotted it, though :(
