🍔Play the browser version here!🍔

In Patty Panic 🍔, customers will be summoning you for their requests. Try too keep up with them as long as you can! Customers will be very unhappy if you let them wait too long, so be quick!

🎮 Controls

Use the arrow keys or WASD to move around. That's it! The rest should be clear while playing the game.

I've created this game with my own game engine. I've created a new engine recently and this Ludum Dare was a great test to see if it's capable of creating a simple game in a short time! I'm overall very happy with how well it worked.

🎵 Music

The music by @koningmathijs used in this game is from another Ludum Dare entry of ours. Because of that, I've opted out of the audio category.

Fun take on the travelling salesman. Very tight design, it feels like there's nothing you could add or take away from it. Only critique I can think of is to call a bit more attention to customers who's demand bar is about to fill up, as they all blur together a bit when there's a lot of them.

Super clean game! Liked it very much! A further mechanic to spice it up would have been nice, maybe something like hazards you have to avoid or seating certain colors together for better score. Super impressive for it being in your own engine!

That's a really fun little package! Like literally, it's impressive to see how small a game could be when it's stripped away from a bunch of unnecessary stuff. Great job and congrats on creating this game with your engine!

Wow, that game was amazing! I'm a fan of the overcooked games so this was incredible. Overall polish is excellent, and the difficulty curve was perfect! Congrats!

Extremely polished and a ton of fun to play! One of the most intuitive game jam games I've played so far. Good job!

Honestly super tight game, I appreciate how mechanically simple it was with only movement as control - lesser designers would have made you hit E to interact with things, for example, but the lack of complexity mixed with the depth of routing around the restaurant made it really satisfying to play. Great job!

EDIT: Just read that this was created with your own engine, massive kudos for that. You should rate some more games to give this entry some visibility, it deserves it :)

Great entry. Well Polished and Nice Loop. Would also add some attantion for the nearly filled up bar would be nice. Ideas to bring it to the next level: Upgrade System with possible Upgrades: 1 Little helper that helps you with the task. Sneaker: Makes you faster. Showact: Makes the bars fill up slower. Illegal Enhancement: Makes the time go slow but with cooldown. Bouncer: Let the line fill up slower. etc. etc.
Could also add different levels with bigger rooms and customers that are different in demand. In one place they have no problem with waiting in line and waiting for the invoice but want their food super fast...
All in All cool Game. And obviously cool engine!

Wow, the fluidity of movement and overall process, smoothness of animations... this is very nice! Very pleasant experience, nice challenge and fun.

One of the coolest entries I've yet seen this LD!

Compact and light-hearted game. Why not summon hamburgers?

I like the simplistic but chaotic gameplay. The gameplay loop is pretty fun and could be spiced up to include perhaps different orders, customers with preferred seating for extra points, and extra requirements. Your game engine looks pretty interesting as well! Great job!

I really liked this game and tried it a few times! It looks beautiful and works good. I don't see any bad part of this game. Game is just too good!

Oh no, didn't realise it was the matter of life and death! That said, this was a very fun to play and like others mentioned, the difficulty curve was just right. Very polished entry! Could be made more interesting by having more kinds of foods, but on the other hand, running a restaurant with just one item, that's peak optimisation!

My favorite game so far! Love games that do not need a tutorial yet feel very complete and rewarding. It's a simple game with a simple mechanic but it's brilliantly executed and polished, and it feels really satisfying to play. Graphics are really endearing as well. Amazing job!

This is really well done! I enjoyed the simplicity and intuitiveness of the game. I knew immediately what I need to do and it was fun right from the start. I like the simple and clean visual style also. Great work!

Cool to see another take on the customer serving idea! Very polished game, the gameplay felt very smooth. I laughed when one of the customers died because I didn't take their payment XD

Awesome game. Polished and fun. I thought I was going to be too stressed out while playing based on the concept but it honestly wasn't stressful at all! Great work.

I DIDN'T KNOW STAKES WERE THAT HIGH  He died. Very nice game! I guess it'd be nice to have some variety (like some ordering drinks) but overall very nice entry. Final score: 16900

A really cool entry! It feels kinda like a streamlined version of Plate Up!

The graphics look relly cool, the artstyle looks great! I love all the little icons and animations. There's a large amount of variation in customer looks, so they don't get boring either.

One tiny bug I've discovered is that sometimes the customers waiting in the line don't show the `!` icon and there is no visible timer for them, but I haven't managed to figure out a way to reliably reproduce it.

The gameplay loop is easily understandable, and it eases you in slowly to get into the rhythm. It's a pretty good idea to start with just one customer, so the player has a chance to observe all the actions you need to perform in order to completely serve one person.

The audio side is cool as well. All actions have their own sounds, giving good feedback to the player. The music sounds pretty good too, but it makes me wonder if you've perhaps wanted to submit this as a Jam entry and submitted as a Compo instead? According to the Compo rules, all the music should be created within the 48h of the Compo, while the Jam allows you to use previously-made music (with opting out of the category).

Overall, it's a really good entry! All the more impressive given the fact it's made in a custom engine. Well done!

I really liked this interpretation of the theme and this was an excellent execution of the idea! I really loved the simplicity of it. You really only needed to be told to move with WASD and the rest is super easy to figure out. Sometimes I ran into the problem that I unintentionally gave my burgers to a different person than I intended, but this felt like part of the charm of this game. The movement was also super fast and smooth, which together with all the effective stretch and squash animation gave it really nice gamefeel. Really well done! This was a super enjoyable submission :D

"This is going so smoothl... Oh wait, is that A LINE OUT THE DOOR??"

10,900 and I enjoyed the experience! Tight movement, great tutorial intro, clear UI/graphics that look nice, and pleasant surprises about combo-actions such as picking up multiple burgers (thank goodness there was no customer-specific ordering!) or leading a customer to a table where you're about to collect (thank goodness there was no need to clean/set the table!).

No splinters, except maybe a very slight one where a few times I wished the corners of the table were rounded in terms of the collider (or maybe the player was a circle) so that I could slip around the edges instead of jolting to a stop.

But so well put together, really impressive entry!

edit: saw that the music was not created during the 48 hrs despite being compo - that music really did add to the vibe! Appreciate you disclosing and opting out of audio. I docked a half-star on "overall" rating for coloring slightly outside the lines there. On the other hand, respect for running on your own engine, impressive, nice web experience.
