Orcs vs Skeletons by Xahon

[raw]
made by Xahon for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

About development

This is the second game jam in my life and the first one when I'm making a game alone
I started the first day with another project and realized too late that it was not fun and not playable, I decided to start over with a brand new idea
Gesture detection system took me a lot of time to implement and debug, now it looks like it working kind of ok most of the time
I see some ways to improve the game but have to focus on other things
All assets I have drawn myself, unfortunately there's no sound in the game ;(

Controls

Rune table - left bottom of the screen, draw runes (described above the table) over it
1, 2, 3 (or LMB) - switch cast lines

Have fun!

Feels like a tech demo, but a cool one! Great job considering you switched mid-way through and it's the first time you've worked on a game jam alone. Keep it up!

Very nice concept and the drawing part was more elaborate than I was expecting. Well done!

But I'm not sure whether it's unbalanced or I'm really bad, but after 5 tries I haven't managed to kill a single orc :D

Very nice idea and well implemented. The summoning table is amazing. Unfortunately I was not able to clear the first wave :( It's a little bit to difficult for me. Maybe start with only one enemy on one lane.
I love the thumbs up skeleton, nice work on that!
Thank you!

Good job with the concept! It's really hard too, but I feel like it could be super fun as a fully fledged game. Naturally the art and lack of audio leave a little to be desired, but as a tech demo it's a really cool one that shows potential!

Quite difficult for me, I just can't get my brain and mouse movement to work fast enough to get through round 1 :(
Great idea, I've tried it some years back but never got the gesture detection working, so nice work

It took me a bit to get through Wave 1 and get the hang of things, but it is fun. A good concept and overall good execution. It might be nice to start with easier enemies that gradually get harder. But a great entry.

The gesture system is really unique and cool! Awesome job for your 2nd jam, esp. considering you had to restart. I will say that the game starts off slightly too difficult.

It's an interesting concept, sometimes it failed to recognize the drawing but it's a good game. Good job!

Ok so after playing it for a little while I kinda found tricks for the shape detection to work a little better, now I guess what could be done with a little more time is balancing enemies and spell cooldowns or something. Anyway it is a really creative idea and you were able to put it together in a shorter amount of time so.. Good job !

Ohhh, love the concept and implementation, yet as others said, it's very difficult.
