Bowl n' Bawls by Silliest Goose

[raw]
made by Silliest Goose for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

Screenshot 2024-04-15 212954.png A somewhat pikmin inspired game where you try and break in to the back room of a bowling alley (who really knows what's back there)

You play as Bowl who can move with either wasd or arrow keys (he's just flexible like that) controlling his little buds called bawls which are sentient bowling balls that can be called to follow you with right click and can be told to attack with left click.

made in 72 hours in unity by Loreline, The silliest goose (Previously Lilac)

Fyi definitely ran out of time for polish to make good sounds and there are still problems with clipping of bawls in certain spots but it shouldn't impact the gameplay too much

Also looking back I probably should have made it so the bawls don't push the player or each other around but the past is in the past lol

Nothing makes me happier than the way Bowl stumbles around.

I got a good laugh from the peek behind the scenes in the back room :) Thanks for sharing!

I like the raw feel of this game — sound and graphics go together well. It'd be good to have a damage meter for the door to see how much progress I'm making.

Love the artstyle and the simple-but-effective concept. Silly goose status: confirmed. Music definitely could've been more varied and/or quieter. A better framerate would've been nice as things looked choppy as I moved around (interpolation!). And don't take this the wrong way... but my "bawls" got stuck in the maze area and I couldn't get them out! I was able to wiggle them free eventually, though XD

Delightful little entry. It is very fun to go around the bowling alley and defeat the pins while getting more and more bawls, and the payoff for the ending is very good. This little game knows what it's about, and doesn't waste any time getting to the "good stuff". Great work! (PS: Oh- and the graphics and sound fit perfectly, too! Little details make it all come together...)

Very sweet game. I'd argue that the bawls shouldn't collide with the player character, and maybe some bounciness would be nice to include some more controlled chaos, but I still had a great time with the game!

Wow, way more fun than it looks. I really liked the mix of brick breaker with pikmin. I think you should look into that. There a lot of things in this game though that could start to annoy you if it were a bit longer, like the little guys getting stuck behind every corner. But if you spend longer on this game you should be able to iron those things out and give the guys a proper AI and stuff.

Obviously the looks of this game don't deserve to be in a museum, although it wouldn't be too out of place with the crap they put in there nowadays, but at least it is coherent, which goes a long way in making it look pleasant for your eyes. Well done!

Pretty fun! (Even if I think I pretty much cheesed my way out of the whole game by alternating left and right click...)

The maze was an especially interesting concept; getting the *Bawls* out of it required a bit more strategy than the rest.

Loved the ending!

Despite the simplicity this was actually a really fun game! Did run into some frustration trying to get the balls around corners in the little maze section. Overall fun little game.

Graphics were fun and music and sound effects are something most entries lack, good job
