The Curse of Lake Pineview is a horror RPG for the Gameboy Color (and for your web browser.) A nostalgic horror spin on the familiar style of 8 bit Gameboy RPGs.

You're an investigator sent to track down a missing girl who seems to have an involvement with the occult. To find out what's happened to her you'll have to explore her lake house, battle her demons, play cards, and talk to her dad.

Features include: - A unique turn based combat system - it's like blackjack with monsters - A cute and spooky lake house to explore - A charming story rich with dialogue - 4 whole music tracks, to suit any mood - as long as those moods are exploring somewhere spooky or fighting things - If you have the means, you can play this on a real Gameboy Color! (Or in black and green on an original Gameboy!)

Tools used: - GB Studio - Aseprite - Tiled - Photopea

Overall I am over the moon with how well this came out and I'm super proud of how much game I managed to make in just 3 days (and how little I managed to sleep.) It's impossible not to smile when you see something you made on a little Gameboy screen :)

Awesome job! The game looked great, love the classic GB feel, it must play great on the console :) The part I really dug is the simple, but interesting overcharging mechanic which made attacking a fun gamble. My only piece of feedback is that all music and sound effects were great apart from the "outside" music, which seemed pretty monotonous in comparison to others. Thank you so much for the experience, I enjoyed it a lot!

I cannot believe this is a real gameboy game, I was so happy when this loaded up on my Analogue Pocket. I got really lucky and got a perfect attack on the boss at the end. Amazing pixel art, and the music was absolutely fire too. I would absolutely play more of this. Was this made with GB Studio?

Cool project! The art looks really nice, and what you were able to get done was impressive. I found the battle mechanics to be a bit lacking in depth, as I felt I wasn't really strategizing as much as I would like in a turn based combat system, but I think there are a lot of avenues you could take to expand upon what you have. Well done!

I love the combat mechanic ! It has room for variation and little twists but the core is already very pleasant to play with. I am hyped for the rest of the game now  Very well done !

The music is great! Also was surprised with the amount of tracks the game has. Combat can be pretty deep if items and abilities are implemented (maybe something to peek at your next card in the deck, see enemy damage, double the value of the card you drew, etc). Overall, it looks, plays and sounds very stylish and coherent, congratulations on the great entry!
