Haunted Cartomancy by Norah
:eye: We highly recommend you to play the Downloaded version "Haunted_Cartomancy2". The HTML one has some minor ugly light bugs and the ending cinematic take between 15 and 30 seconds to begin. :eye:
Our Jam version (downloaded version "summon2") had a bug which prevent the player to pass the first step of the game.
- #### 16/04 - We fixed the bug and now the game is playable until the end.
- #### 17/04 - We fixed all the known issues.

Yes, we have a lot of ideas to make a full game, so maybe, we'll see in the future
I liked the card art a lot and the mood is oppressing and nice
The music is very great too.
I would like to play a longer version :) Congrats to the entire team, amazing game!
Sorry for the inconvenience, hope you enjoyed the game anyway :/
The web version still bugs out for me after getting the very first item, and sadly I also got a blocking bug in the downloaded version too (after I got the key in the card, I couldn’t interact with the NPC anymore)
Still, it’s saying something that after getting blocked twice, I’d still like to be able to see the ending of your game’s story. I’ll try it again when it’s fixed!
Yeah it seems that some people still get blocking bugs. The game is working for us so we don't really understand what cause them for the moment but we're on the case.
I'll tag you here when the problems will be resolved.
We are also making a video walkthrough of the game for those who can't see the end.
I encountered a few bugs, some forced me to restart the game. But I played the web version despite the warnings, so that's on me I suppose... ^^
I didn't used all the objects in the room, so I wonder if I missed alternative ends...
Amazing work anyway!
@nomus @namnam @blaise-ebuth We upoladed a fixed version. Thanks for your feedbacks !
Some objects are useless, they're just here to add a bit of difficulty. Maybe in an upgraded version there could be different endings based on what object you used
First, the visuals - they're truly perfect. It looks polished and well-done. The model of the card reader is 10/10. The design of the cards? Gosh, I don't have enough words left to express how much I liked it.
Then, the gameplay: it's the kind that I really love. A little riddle, a bit cryptic, but not too hard to understand - you pretty much realize right away which object you need for each step. With emphasis on the narrative, on words - it feels so enjoyable.
About words - I noted in the credits there is "localization". If it's a translation, I just have to praise it as well - the translation is fantastic! I loved how the dialogue was written.
And finally, a story itself - not too complicated in general, but with feeling put into it, and a bit chilling in the end. When I got the last task, I immediately thought of a mirror; at that point, I didn't notice it being in the room yet, so started to look around with no specific expectation, just taking all the objects in. And finding a mirror gave me that a-ha moment: oh, it is a mirror, and -then I saw the reflection, and then the last movie - you pretty much understand you had to trade your soul for the soul of your friend, but the game leaves you with so many questions - why was your protagonist willing to sacrifice himself? What happened to his friend? And what happened to his own soul in the end, did it get into the same place his friend's was in? And is the friend's soul now in protagonist's body? In my eyes, it's good that the game leaves you with such questions, letting you to build your own theories.
Little nitpicks:
In terms of dialogue, I am used to having an option to make the whole phrase appear by clicking so accidentally skipped a few lines. If we could click on text to make it all be written-out at once, that would be nice <3
You can't exit the game after credits in any way other than Alt+F4, it would be nice to have an exit button, or let game close itself if you click on the screen when credits are up.
The presentation is absolutely amazing and pretty insane for just 3 days!!
the models are great as well as the art on the cards I especially like the colors in particular, it makes the game really stand out and does a perfect job setting the mood. he way everything is set up form the beginning to the end is finely crafted to create a really intriguing and spooky experience. This is definitely one of my favorite uses of the theme form an aesthetic stand point.
I liked the aspect of using objects as answers for the riddles, all of them were the right amount of difficult, and the twist at the end was really cool
amazing entry!! congrats to the team!
And yes you're totally right for the dialogues and for the exit button it would be better. We're keeping this in mind for the next jam
