Jury Doody by smikevth

[raw]
made by smikevth for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

You have been summoned to jury duty! Answer the attorney's questions to try and get out of it.

This was my first game jam and it was a lot of fun. The end product is fairly doody as the name implies, and I didn't get to add as much functionality as I had hoped, but I finished a simple game with some fun quirks and enjoyed the challenge.

Made by Kevin Smith. Kevin Haaland contributed the song "Wapner's Revenge". Special thanks to my nephew and mom for help with silly questions.

A very cool implmentation of the theme! I thought about court summoning too, but couldn't really come up with a idea of how to make it work, but you nailed it. Bonus points for humor.

Is there any way to win this or is losing unavoidable? I managed to get all  in my responses, but I still lost.

@exofrenon It's a bit counterintuitive and probably not clear enough in the game. The goal is actually to not have to do jury duty so you win by getting enough angry responses that the attorney sends you home. I maybe could have had the players think or say something in the beginning to tee that up, or call it out in the title like "Escape your summons". Thanks for the feedback.

A very funny idea. The randomness of the questions even gives it some repeatability. At the same time the randomness can also make it very hard, when its purely based on taste... although I agree with most of your choices ( :dog:  )... unfortunatly making me a great for jury duty xD

Would also be fun to have more ways to annoy the attorney, like not looking at him, or beeing slow to answer questions. Although it would then be important to not tell people about it, so you can find out these options yourself ... but this might also greatly backfire, so I don't :D

Nice first entry all in all. Keep up the jams ;)

Funny, got a couple of laughs out of it. Did not feel like there was too much of a correlation between my replies and the outcome, was there meant to be? 😅 The music fits well and I like the typing noise for the talking. Fun to look around at the characters. I guess the graphics are a little mixed in terms of style. I like the textured walls and floor. Overall needs some work to really be game but it's fun to mess around with and hear all the different questions and really good for a first jam :)

This the the funniest jam game I've seen so far! The questions are fantastic. Took my stupid self a bit to try and get out of duty.

Amazing. Haha. Simple. Execution. Works. A. Treat. Your first game jam but you've got a knack for a scene and spinning a funny dialogue. Keep on making.
