Soul Siphon by Knatt

[raw]
made by Knatt for Ludum Dare 55 (COMPO)

Souls are a valuable currency in the nexus. Scour the many realms for souls and buy powerful bonuses that will aid you. Bolster your army, and destroy all that stand in your way. But watch out for the deadly Mage Killers

Screenshot2.png CONTROLS:

WASD to move, this can be changed in game

SPACE to recall units, you can also hold while colliding with a unit to summon and get some mana back

Left click will channel a spell. hold until the spell circle is complete. Casting it over objects will have special effects

Right click to place a rally point for your units

find the exit to go to the nexus and spend souls.

Thank you for looking, There were many thing's I didn't get to doing, such as an in game tutorial, play testing, balancing, or audio. I was far to ambitious but I got a very rough version in the deadline. As always these Jams are a lot of fun, even if I'm learning the same lesson over and over lol.

If this trips anyone's firewall, I apologize but I'm not sure how to fix this. Clickteam .exe files trip it. The source code is available at itch.io if you have clickteam fusion

I went over 400 skeletons/circle later, didn't bother to screencap.

It was stupid fun watching em explode into existence, followed by a horribly lagging stream of souls chasing you

To anyone coming here after me, seek the exit first (it literally says "exit") then Create Your Own Carnage.

10/10, would buy 1.0 & play the hell out of it.

pretty cool game with an interesting upgrade system. some are kind of hard to figure out what they do like the aspect stuff. and it is a lot of information in form of numbers to take in. can be a bit overwhelming.

but overall a really nice game. played a few rounds of it even

Wow that was a lot of fun! It took me a bit to figure out how to play, but once I did I had a blast burning everything to the ground :D

Some of the upgrades were a bit confusing, and I'm still not entirely sure what everything did. Also, I didn't even realize you could kill knights until I saw on the score screen that I killed a few of them.

This is currently one of the most fun compo entries I've played so far, great job!

Fun game. I think it could have done with some info about which character was which - I wasn't really sure about the choices I was making in the upgrade menu, I ended up rerolling a lot.

Am I right in saying that your summons could not do anything to the enemies? The long range superfast fireball was really annoying - felt like there wasn't really much I could do to counter it. It was fun to create as much chaos as possible though 😈

@ciaranw the enemies are killable, but they got a lot of HP. It wasn't playtested, so the balance could diffidently be off. I was going for the GTA wanted system, where having 5 stars sends the most challenging enemies. TY for playing!
