Summoner's Dungeon by MaxDrago

[raw]
made by MaxDrago for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

In this world, every object and living thing has mana. Depending on its amount, the strength and power of the owner is determined. Objects have a minimum mana value, so they are not capable of doing damage on their own. However, if an object is in the range of a powerful creature for a long time, then when the internal reserve overflows, there will be a magical explosion or the object will evolve into something new.

As a novice summoner, you enter the dungeon out of curiosity, but the entrance behind you immediately collapses. You move deeper into the dungeon in search of a way out.

A heads up - to get more ratings and feedback, you should rate and give feedback to other people's games, Your game will show up on other people's home pages if you do so, that's how the Ludum Dare algorithm is set up.

Very solid old-school dungeon crawler. I think the combat animations could be a bit quicker, but I liked the core of the game and had a good time with it.

The controls where a bit cumbersome and the fighting could have had more feedback to it.
However I was kind of hypnotized by the minimalistic but effective mood, so I finished it and altogether it was a nice experience.

An enjoyable experience, I think the concept of summoning creatures depending on the enemies you've defeated is an interesting one! I think it could be further iterated upon, like combining elemnents to make more poweful creatures or reinforcing / healing your creatures by using elements of the same type. Congratulations for this entry!

really like the premise and the simple graphics. felt the animations were much to slow to play for very long though. sped up i could see myself finishing some dungeons. good entry!

Pretty fun, I escaped successfully! The combat was a bit slow like @blues said, would have been nice for the animations to be faster. I also felt like it was pretty easy until the final boss, and even then I never felt like I had to defend or heal in battle. Overall was pretty fun! The dungeon was fun to explore, and the breakable walls were rewarding to spot, great job!

This is a cool game, I thought the movement mechanics were going to be a bit annoying at first but they turned out to make a really interesting maze like experience. The battling seemed a little simple and I couldn't really figure out which colours were strong against each other as the damage values seemed to change. Either way I managed to clear it quite easily without trying so maybe some balancing needs to be done. Overall it's a really interesting and pretty unique entry so great job!

I liked this game a good amount. Interesting mechanics. A bit easy IMO. Also for some reason the final boss seemed to get in a glitched state and never attacked me. Still innovative idea and well designed game. Good job!

Very nice game, the textures and models are nice, I see you mastered blender haha, the controlls are a little bit confusing and I wasn't really able to close the UI that appears when I smash the first wall, otherwise its a nice build keep it up!

Cool dungeon crawler! The movement feels nice, but the combat could be a bit snappier/faster. But other than that it's a nice entry! Good job! :)

Nice retro dungeon crawler - I do wish the movement was smooth though, felt a bit jarring at times. Also found a weird bug where I was stuck facing a wall, and ended up in a battle while facing the wall the whole time - I can move to face the right direction by holding my mouse button, but the second I let go it snaps be back to facing the wall. Nice combat system & the simple graphics work well.

Loved the concept of the game! I do agree with some of the above comments on the animation feeling a bit slow, but well made entry overall!
