The Ascension by ALeal_Dev

[raw]
made by ALeal_Dev for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

The Ascension is a prototype for an incremental/idle game. You'll play as a cute and pixeled summoner who wants to ascend to the most trascendental level of dark magic. In order to do so, you'll need to kill enemies in order to get their blood, use that blood to buy upgrades that allow you to summon more enemies and kill them faster, in order to... get more blood!!

In this prototype, the game finishes when you fill the blood vial at the left side of the screen, how fast can you do it?? Let me know it in the comments!

If you like this demo/prototype, I'll be updating the game, since there is a lot of room for improvement!: * Better economy progression * Add a variety of enemies * Add new power ups and improve their progression * Music and audio * Better animations * etc.

I hope you like the game. I would appreciate if you can drop a comment (any feedback is welcome!) and rate the game

Thanks in advance!

A truly captivating game - I completed the whole thing. I have nothing to complain about, it's the perfect game for a game jam. Simple and straightforward.![obraz_2024-04-16_031705905.png](///raw/047/e2/z/630fe.png)

Played the whole thing! Fairly relaxing since the enemies don't deal damage, which is great. Just a nice soft summoning game

Thanks for the web version! But the game is too slow for me and upgrades are too hungry for blood... I would like to be more fast-paced

@online-play, @vladimperator, @santi-barra, @scottal, @hvox Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback. I really appreciate it!

I've already received some feedback about the game being slow. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to work in balancing game speed & progression, but I will keep improving the game in future versions.

I managed 6:03 before ascending. I didnt realise it was going to get to a point where he just started firing at random himself but makes sense when you have maxed power out. Really enjoyed this entry - pretty much a perfect type of entry for a game jam, and a great achievement, well done!

Pros: Simple, Fun, Bug-free, sense of achievement
Cons: Maybe more sounds and music, but imo not necessary. Could be slightly faster paced, but it gets going.

Great entry and super job!

I have ascended! This was a cool twist on the cookie clicker genre. I really dig the art. It's simple but well done and fits the theme really well. I think you did a great job avoiding scope creep and this felt like a small, complete game!

Nice work. I love this art. This is my favorite style. But game needs more animations

@andrewbyte, @nathan, @erik-tate, @fenix131113 Thanks a lot for your kind reviews, I'm happy to see that people is actually liking the game.

Regarding the game needing more animations, that's completely true, I'll work on improving the game adding more enemies and animations. Thanks for the honest feedback! :v:

It felt a bit tedious in the beginning, the attack was slow and you just clicked on some little sprites (well made by the way). Maybe try to add some tension, put something at stake, a way to lose. Otherwise the art was fantastic, and the game well made. No bugs I could find!! Good job!

I always appreciate a good idle game. It's a nice framework and I'll be interested to see where it goes from here. My only complaints are probably things you know based on the description - animations, enemy varieties, etc.

Had fun playing and good luck with the progress to it!

Nice cooldown mechanics. I could see having more involvement with movement or that pentagram

Cool! Really like the art style. With idle games you can always keep adding stuff fine tuning the progression. One issue I noticed was the allies would often overlap after going after the same enemy. Maybe you could add more powerful allies down the line that can cast magic as well.
