The Evil Eye

It is time to summon the evil eye. Kill the demon to banish it from the realm of existance.

A game by Anja Dannenberg and Timur Bahadir for the Ludum Dare 55 game jam.

How to play

Summon the Demon and kill him.

Move with W, A, S and D. Dash with Shift and jump with Space. Hit them with your laser gun. You can fire a high damage projectile with left click or fire a continuous beam with right click.

You can change your mouse sensitivity in the menu.

Your health regenerates slowly over time.

Your enemy becomes invulnerable while crystals exist. Focus on them first.

Note

While Anja did create all of the music, we disabled audio ratings since we downloaded all of the sound effects. Feel free to rate it in the comments .

The game engine we used, Godot, seems to have problems some problems with lag spikes in the browser version when you first play the game.

I recommend downloading it if you are fine with that.

Wild, great job, love the challenge, as one would expect from fighting the evil eye ;)

Really enjoyed the ramp up with each wave, however the red circles on the ground were difficult to see and the gun felt like it fired a bit slowly on the left click attack but I had a lot of fun. I quite liked the start where you walk up to the book and interact with it, it lets the player feel the controls before starting the fight and makes it feel like a proper boss fight!

Really cool boss fight game! At first I found it kinda easy but it gets pretty difficult by the end! I think you could have gone even a bit crazier with the level of difficulty and have one additional level, where the demon's attacks are spammed faster!

Good job on the visuals, the demon looks great and its SFX match perfectly!

Oh and since you asked for it: the music is really cool!

Nice game!

It was really difficult to avoid the AOE attacks while in third person with the limited FOV. Maybe just a skill issue on my side :P

The models and room was great, nice low poly effect.

A fun game with good animations. It felt like the laser was the best option all the time, I never used the regular shooting. Maybe a way to circumvent this would be to only allow a certain amount of energy for the laser that must be replenished over time. Overall good game!

Really good boss fight, bit too easy but I enjoyed completing it first try. love how the ui is set up and how you can change the mouse sensitivity. Gun model looks really cool as well, and i have a feel i know where you guys got your boss inspiration from lmao

I got to level(?) four I think and it was great. I don't know why but I've always thought "eye of the beholder" type monsters look really cool!

This was a pretty fun little shooter, laser is definitely my favourite weapon but the shotgun was good when I got close to the crystals. Having a settings menu with mouse sensitivity was huge, I had it all the way at the bottom and that was perfect so I'm very glad you included it. Nice job ^^

having mouse sensitivity control sealed the deal for me. easy to understand gameplay + both weapons felt meaningful and felt naturally distinctive on when they were useful. i had fun with this one.

Ahhh the age old boss battle. Plain and simple a big final boss in an FPS game. Intuitive gameplay for using a strong well known foundation like that, instant familiarity. The progressive difficulty is pretty interesting, it spikes by the end and I love how you have to juggle just so many things at once. Also Godot for the win, love games showcasing Godot is a mature little cookie.

For suggestions, maybe building on cues from FPS games, a vignete or some sort of damage indication. It was frustrating not to know wheter I was crushing or being crushed! Also I found the laser to be a bit of an overwhelming weapon, the shotgun was just useful for the crystals. Maybe adding more situations that empower these two options.

And a pet peevee, I like HP bars that are just in one side, it is easier to see than guessing based on the center part for me. But it wasn't a deal breaker in any way.

Great game! Nice art, tense music, clear objectives. Personally, I found it a bit dizzying to play. Maybe it's an issue with the default FOV?

Good job on the aesthetics and art, the visuals and audio really helped set the mood. I liked the runes on the ceiling and the gun model was solid. Wish the projectile felt..heftier? I feel misled though; thicc in the thumbnail, but first person in-game :P

All in all a nice experience, thank you! :)
Really enjoyed the game. I very much enjoyed the graphics and the music!
The lag spikes on the browser version are a bit unfortunate, hope you get to fix that someday!
