Uber for Summoning Circles by ultrarat

[raw]
made by ultrarat for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

High Level

A game for Ludum Dare 55 "Summoning".

Customers summon you from their phone to build demon summoning circles for them. The gig economy is rough.

It's meant to have a bit of a "Cook, Serve, Delicious" time management feel with a typing game skill component. But I didn't finish a lot of the more time management complexity, a combination of being an adult jamming alone and the Fallout TV show being better than I expected and binging it.

How to play

  • First you'll see a list of ingredients and count. Mouse Drag the supplies from the right into the squares of the summoning circle.
  • Second, Once you have all the ingredients in the circle it'll pop up a box to type an incantation.

You have 60 seconds to get the highest score (or you can summon all 9 demons and that's the win condition.)

Things I wish I got in but didn't

  • It's on the honor system that you're putting stuff in a circle and are using the right ingredients and it just accepts any 5 ingredients. This is basically a bug.
  • Theres the traditional bug in text formatting where word wrap is incomplete
  • I wanted more levels with more complex patterns
  • Limited inventory. Which would have lead to a "This is my candle budget, help my family is dying" joke
  • Sounds and tweening.

Very well made game, at first it was a little confusing but then I got it working, I love the designs of the characters, the only thing missing would be a soundtrack but other than that this was a really good submission!

Fun game! Haven't played typeracer in a while, so I struggled a bit, but after some attempts I managed to get 4 recipes done. I'm not the fastest of typers, but I really enjoyed the game!

The gameplay is fine, and it's a pleasure to say the incantation phrases out loud to discover our demons, in the hope of getting some music and a bit more feedback to motivate us to finish the game. Keep up the good work and thank you!

It definitely looks like you're in a rush to summon something :D, you used the theme well. :>
I missed sfx, but I got the idea of the game. Congratulations on completing the game on time. They're definitely the cutest demons we could have.

For games where the player has a limited amount of time, I've found that it's more engaging to start them with a smaller amount of time, and then add to it each time they do something good. Makes the player feel rewarded and like they accomplished something.

Otherwise, no issues encountered, that was a nice little typing game!

Really funny game with a good idea of typing-matching mix
