To our hell by Vasulvius

[raw]
made by Vasulvius for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

Can we not sacrifice ourselves in peace?!

Our Grand Ceremony to summon our Master finally approaches, and our noble cultists, in their holy trance, are gathering around the Great Square Volcano to offer their lives to His glory. However, protestors are shamelessly trying to lure our believers out of it! Something about "Your life matters!", "Choose candies, not lava!", and "Summoning the Destroyer of Worlds is not a good idea!". Pouah! They even brought ice cream trucks to distract our people. And... It works.

Thankfully, He always watches, and shall help us get rid of such mascarade!

Defend our obediant, sacrifying cultists from good-hearted people by summoning evil towers to rip them out alive ! For each of these poor, useless beings we thus bring to an end, our Lord will grant us souls to prepare better defenses.

Allow enough sacrifices to take place before we run out of people! Our temples are not an endless supply chain.

May His dark eyes watch over you for all eternity!

Shout out to Tiboiser, our incredible developper who coded the whole enemy wave system, and who was sadly forgotten in the credits.

Tower defense games used to be my favorite type of games so this definitely brings me back! The game plays well and I think the art is really great. I love the extra time you put to write down the controls and mechanics supported by screenshots. Overall this game looks very polished and looks like a game that could get me back to play another map. Keep up the great work!

A fun cute tower defense game. I loved your sprites! I did have some trouble with some of the power placements: it was clearly on range but it didnt attack enemies. Other than that quite on theme and enojoyable.

Neat spin on the Tower Defense genre. I'm impressed with how functional and sleek everything feels considering the time limits of LD. Great artwork too, though I'd appreciate a little more visual or audio feedback when an enemy gets hit or killed, or I lose a cultist. I also would sometimes find myself trying desperately to place a new tower only to notice i couldn't afford it, so showing that in the construction editor somehow would do a lot.

Overall really great job. The level designs are varied and interesting and quite replayable thanks to the three-star system. Out of curiosity were you able to clear every level with three stars in your testing or is that more of a theoretical untested thing?

@shugor Hi, Sarkharth here, I was the artist for backgrounds and UI. Thank you very much for your feedback, we worked really hard and it warms my heart ! The 4 levels were designed by 4 different people and finished this early morning at 2am, and although they are all feasible, we didn't have time to adjust the difficulty enough to get the different star ratings right. Only level 2 really has a strategy on when to buy and where to place precisely each turret. Level 4 is just here to make you cry <3

I love the graphics, damn it! The game is interesting and simple. Unfortunately, I didn’t pass the last level, but this is fun)

Looks very polished, loved the graphics and mood! Almost made it through the last level, sometimes I was lucky and the cultist passed through the enemies, but it would take too long to complete it in this way. But overall great job!

I really liked the Turret art. The second turret was a bit overpowered compared to the others. Great submission!

This was a cool twist on tower defense games. I really liked the art style and music. Adding some sound effects for the turrets and whatnot would go a long way to make things feel more satisfying. Some of my tower placements didn't seem that great (they wouldn't shoot) and I'm not sure why. I also didn't know why some towers wouldn't let me place them though I think I had enough money? Regardless, with just some small additions here and there I could find myself playing a game like this for a long time and losing myself in it. I appreciate your addition of a speedup. I used that to clear the level of cultists if the wave was over. Overall, really nice game! Good job!

Love TD games, i played level4 at least 5 times before sayign there is no way. Then i saw your comment in here that it was made to make you cry, lol yeah no kidding. Great visuals asnd audio. Most things were intuitive which is nice when playing a familiar game. I would have liked the purchase menu for the towers to be visible while the game was playing and not have to press the gear icon and then go to a sepearte menu and the game pauses. I think just comes down to preference. Good game, great job.

Loved the humorous twist on classic tower defense! The game plays well and the art is fantastic. Indicating affordability when placing new towers would be handy. Overall, great job on the polished interface, fun gameplay, and fantastic artwork!

I loved the humor of the game. Nice idea.

I only needed a snap to grid to building. It was frustrating to build close to a road

Good presentation and interesting varation on the tower defense genre. Only problem I had was that I'd like to be able to sell misplaced towers, but otherwise very good!

I really enjoyed the game's humor; it was a clever concept. However, I found it frustrating to construct buildings close to a road without the snap-to-grid feature. It's a pity that there is no web version

@tentacledream Indeed! Sadly, Godot with C# does not support web export yet.

Very good, pretty complete and polished considering a LD time frame. I had trouble to place my turrets, though, even though its block was clearly unobstructed, I still had to put them farther from the path. Also, I missed a clear indication of the path both cultists and enemies would take, so it pissed me off when enemies would come from the other pathes. Anyway, congratulations!

Love TD games since Warcraft III.
The twist where you protect your own units (I mean devoted cultists) travelling is refreshing

Hey! Great job! you did a lot for these 3 days. I like an art and simplicity!
Unfortunately, I didn't understand why sometimes I can't build towers, although they don't intersect with each other. And also I don't understand why the don't shout up, although the enemies in their range.

Thank you for the game, I realy like TD!

I really like the atmosphere and the fact that it's easy to understand and well explained! It reminds me of Plants vs Zombies, the atmosphere is fun and the graphics are cool, well done!

Very nice game. I love tower defense and I think it's great how you've implemented the genre into the theme. I had the problem, that I thought that the game was stuck, because I clicked on the editor mode and thought that I can leave it by clicking on the same button again. I had to try some times before I found the x on the right side. In the second level I found the problem, that the protesting people aren' following the cultists, when the cultists already passed them. They protesting people are waiting at the aversion.

Great GG to build a tower defence like this for a jam! The graphics are very nice and I love the atmosphere! However, I think there is a lack of explanations (as I couldn't click on the arrow to read the whole tutorial). Also, maybe the difference in efficiency between the towers that cost 100 and those that cost 200 is too big!
But, again, gg!

Very nice, the game is polished and so big for a Jam. The visuals are cool and the levels are nice too (even if some of them are very easy or too hard). The tutorial could be sumarized or done with something else than an overview with arrow on it and the timer didn't work for me. For the tower maybe they could be more balanced too, I didn't understand how to make them work together because they were too different (way too exepensive I guess)

But again it's amazing to see such quality and quantity in a Jam, good job !
