Don't Touch The Shredder, Jim. by Jan Tuts

[raw]
made by Jan Tuts for LD33 (JAM)
You are Jim. Your job is maintaining the municipal park. You have to do many things at your job. None of those things is touching the shredder. Get to work, Jim.

We took a bit of an indirect approach to the "You are the monster" theme, which you'll understand when you've played the game. :)

I'm rather pleased with the result of our first Ludum Dare, which also marks our first cooperation on any project!

Furthermore, this was my first time as the programmer for a game jam (I'm mainly an artist, so I've previously only done art during game jams) and my first attempt at creating point-and-click interaction and behaviours.

The audio was great! I'm not sure I fully understood the "game" portion of "Don't touch the shreader". It looks like it could be great beginnings of an adventure-styled game. Would like to see more choices in a cause/effect manner. The graphics really aren't my style, but I can appreciate the effort involved and appeal for some players.

The artstyle was pretty original. The gameplay was quite an interesting experiment. Liked that you supported two languages, as I'm Dutch. Good job!

Simple and easy looking but the sound ambiance at the end nailed it. Well done of matching them together so greatly.
It actually felt real :)

good job!

well, as for me, it's too simple.
But I liked the graphics and sound.

Great use of sound; I like the graphics too. There's not an awful lot to do, though, unless I missed something... but it was still entertaining :)

Dat calendar. I think it was rather good, especially the art which is important for point and click.

Dude, those other assholes ain't even working. Hahaha :D
Smart title. First thing I wanted to do was click it right away.
Great art, great audio.
And holy crap, that ending! I felt really guilty!

Nice little point'n click game! And pretty humorous too. :P I burst laughing when Jim finally touched the shredder. XD

Nice work on the illustrations and audio too, it's really well made! :3 The only bad point is being too short. :P

Hahaha, awesome! Audio was on-point and graphics were incredibly sweet.

It's a really short game but loved every bit of it.
I'd really like to see a more complex/longer game with the aesthetics of this entry. It has a lot of potential.

I said it before but great job with the audio too, loved the sequence after you start the shredder.

10/10. Would play again.

Love the implied off-screen chaos.

The stuff against the back wall looked like additional tools I could have used to pass the time, but alas, I suppose they are just more things Jim can't touch. :P

Simple but funny game! Nice job!

Thanks a lot for the nice comments, guys!
I'm happy to see that you appreciate the art and final audio sequence, as Ester put a lot of effort into those :)

As for the short length and unused tools in the background, you can blame those on the time restraint. Our priority was getting the game DONE, as we both had previous experience with ending up with functionally unfinished game jams games, which is always really sad. :/

I touched the shredder. I included it in my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/wEgI5I5KLKY
