made by orangeoceans for Ludum Dare 55 (COMPO)

Oh no! While practicing UNADVISABLE MAGIC in your basement, you've accidentally opened a PORTAL TO AN EVIL DIMENSION or something! Defend yourself by summoning allies and command them with the power of dance.

Controls: WASD + Mouse

This is rhythm/strategy game. You can issue commands by entering their respective combinations on the beat.

A list of commands can be found on the right side of the screen.

Summons will appear at your mouse pointer.

Love the idea! Nice take on the dance genre. Took me a while to figure out that I need to look at the combinations and not at the bottom. It's pretty hard! Might be good for the player to have a bit more HP to make it a bit more forgiving. I think it's unnecessary to have the mouse control where the Summons spawn - seemed like an extra thing to keep track. Nice work on making this so quickly!

@rob6566 Thanks! That HP thing is actually a bug, where enemies were doing way too much damage. It should be fixed now!

Really cool concept! Love the mix between Guitar Hero and summoning :)
It took me a while to get used to the combinations and I realized too late that the mouse was useful somehow haha
I also felt like playing Zelda Wind Waker with the rhythm thing.
Had a great time, good job!

Interesting idea, cute graphics. Personally I couldn't get the timing down at all, either it could be slower or more forgiving (often the triangle was in the white box but didn't register)? Maybe a metronome sound to help the player? Or I could just suck at rhythm.

This is seriously cool! I forgot my highscore but I WILL come back for one! Timing the start of a bar isn't super easy, it's very hard to focus on the game field... in other words, a challenge! :D (I have to beat the giant wave I will report back when I do)

Update: scored a 57! Then a 61!

Cute! Tough to pick up until you get in the groove, but then it's smooth sailing. A drumtrack would've helped.

Super great concept. I really like both rhythm games and summoning various atrocities of hell so it's awesome to find something that combines them in one cute package. Like others I had difficulty with the timing, especially in regards to the first square, but after some practice and memorization was able to get into a nice groove and start massacring. I also like the art and designs of the demons a lot. Yay.

Ugh, I wanted to play this game, it looks good, funny graphics, but it's incredibly difficult. I can't summon more than two or three demons per game, it's too fast, and the anticipation bar is incredibly short, it appears just when you have to press it, and I don't really understand the rhythm! I deserve to play this game!!!

@josemwarrior Yeah that seems to be the consensus :( If I have some time this weekend I'll slow it down and add a drum beat. I guess rhythm games are hard to balance in 48 hours!

@fusionnist Wait that's incredible. The wall of enemies is definitely a bug I can't believe you managed to get so many of them!

Oh haha, I gave you the benefit of doubt there! :p

Great job with the art and the music. Loved the dancing animation!

Unfortunately the game and the music were out of sync for me though. The line hit the box ~1/3 of a beat behind and the first input was registering on beat 4 instead of beat 1.

Cool idea! It's quite a fun and addictive game once you get the hang of it and find the right rhythm. Like others said it could use a drum beat or metronome but overall it's a fun compo game. Good job!
