Heroes always win! by cptalbertwesker

Have you ever wished you could play as the monster in a game?

No? I'm not surprised... you see the thing with all of the monsters in all of the games ever is that they are meant to be destroyed! They are the cannon fodder in first person shooters, they go down with the smallest of effort.

So wouldn't it be fun to play as one?

Well in Heroes always win! you can answer that question... I can give you a clue to the answer, unless you're some sort of ungodly creature, you're probably not going to stand up against the chiseled good looks of your average hero.

Heroes always win! is styled around an old-school first-person dungeon crawler (see Eye of the Beholder, Wizardry, Deep Dungeon etc) except rather than exploring the dungeon, you get to play as a monstery minion who's one job is to defeat the hero.

Don't give up too easily though, just because you've been defeated doesn't mean the end of the good-fight against those smug heroes, there's always a secret weapon on hand if you manage to unlock it!

--------

This game much like 50% of the titles I make for LD is not strictly a game, you'll see what I mean once you play it.

I really enjoyed the concept behind this game. It's true, monsters are mostly fodder in video games. The artwork is nice too and it's oddly satisfying when you disintegrate the hero.

What did this game teach us? Role-playing games require stronger monsters. They rarely have a chance...

I see what you mean by saying it's not strictly a game... I like dungeon crawlers, though, and was hoping the monsters might've had a bit of a chance, rather than just waiting to play as the beholder :) Still, nice use of the theme, and the graphics work well.

I agree with you, it is not fun to be a monster lol, i always die..... i had to wait to be the beholder to actually win.
Nice representation :)

I like the idea, but before I "got it" I was expecting to whittle the heroes down with sheer numbers.
