Lucky Little Darlings by Emiliabea

Browser/WebGL, Windows Download, and mobile compatible

LLD is a hidden object game with mostly narrative elements focusing on a trio of siblings that have magical capabilities. They run an online shop of retro/vintage items that are cloned by magic, but it isn't bringing in enough money, so they decide to summon lovable creatures and make a business with them that will capture the adoration of the masses(because they are so cute and cute sells) LuckyLittleDarlings - Bedroom.png Inspo: We have always wanted to make a game with this set of characters and for this jam, we created a loose interpretation of the idea we had - which was never meant to be a hidden object game. We have a set of creature designs made already, and created new art for this project that would feature them.

What we didn't get to:

  • More drawn frames to support the story so it doesn't feel stiff

  • The hidden objects disappearing off the shelf once selected LuckyLittleDarlings - Character Bios.png

Really great looking art - the characters in the book are really cute, though it was hard to tell what I needed to look for based on the descriptions sometimes haha. Still really enjoyed it though, good job :)

Very cozy indeed! Once I understood what images to search for the game was super fun. Excellent art and very cute and funny story!

Beautiful art and the story is very interesting too.

I think the object for the blue cat was a little hard to find.

Also, I love the way you presented the summoning bible. I thought the characters were about to go find an ancient book or something haha.

Love the worldbuilding, storytelling and art! Maybe hidden item object games aren't for me, though

lovely lovely chalk drawn characters

I love the choice of colors greenish purple and blue

the music has a very short loop and becomes a bit repetitive.

Gizmo-core got me laughing lol

the magazine is so rich and the personalities feel authentic

the music in that room you have to find the items is way better

oh no

btw this took me a looong while to find

Amazing experience I had a blast, the only thing that I would change is that background music, way too short of a sound loop

I'm not really a visual novel type of guy, but I thought the drawings in the magazine were very cute, and I liked the minigame where you had to search for the items. The ending was also funny.

Wow, so much work on the UI, art and text/scenario, well done!

This "to be continued"... YES, I want to continue! :joy:

I'd love to see the next chapter!

I loved the drawings, the way they were colored in was so cute. I wish there was voices or talking sounds. It's an adorable theme and I love search games. YAY!

I haven't played a huge number of hidden object games, but the ones I have tended to hide objects in places they didn't belong, but blended in so you had to look carefully to find them. All of the objects in this game looked like they belonged, so it didn't feel much like "hidden object" so much as it did "click on all the objects and hope that some are interactable". I spent a while clicking on a mirror because I knew I needed one, only to find out I should've been clicking on a *different* mirror.

Outside of that though, this was a cute game which clearly had a lot of love put into it - which has a ton of personality to it

Is summoning only three of the eight darlings the only ending or did I get the items wrong? Can you select other items? The graphics were cute and the game had a weird humor vibe. The music is repetitive with the same short motifs played in loop and I could hear the mouse click at the end of the loop of one of the songs. Uh, weird game with a bizarre vibe but I kinda liked it. Good job!

@andriybyelikov We reaallllyy wanted to draw in all the darlings but you got the only ending we were able to draw. The idea was to have them all appear but in a crunch I decided to just do 3

The look and atmosphere of the game is so unique! I love the huge green eyelashes +_+ And the skull in main menu. Overall the style is really cute&cool!

Random thoughts while I play:
- I was confused why Dad is asking for rent xD
- Loved looking through the journal with little darlings, and it looks soooo good
- 1st little darling is literally our MC??
- the journal made me think damn that's really cute, because I made a "picture book" for my game (also wanted to make so you can look through it but didn't have time so it's just a single picture) and yours works sooo much better, taking notes x)
- love the chaotic energy of the game x)
- in hidden object part, would be nice to know what we are looking for, as whole BG looks the same so objects don't even stand out from the rest, some list or silhouettes would work
- in perfect world objects also disappear once found
- I ended up just clicking on diff objects mindlessly until got them all
- I realized midway we are supposed to use the journal for reference (what little darlings want) so now that makes more sense but I still think object for finding should stand out somehow as it wasn't too clear
- or maybe even make journal light up when finding objects scene comes up, and throw in a phrase that clarifies that a little (specifically when the mini game starts!)
- aaand it seems I got to the end!!
- now I am a bit sad I didn't realize the idea behind object finding right away, though ig it was implied through dialogue, it wasn't clear enough for me and I wasted that opportunity just clicking randomly ;_;
- the sound when darlings appear was very horror-like, expecting horror continuation xD
